hey just another quick quesion which is VERY annoying.

when i deploy (i tend to auto deploy and tweak) there are always one or two formations which cannot be moved from the HEX they were put in, is this part of the game or am just super dumb?

Is there anyway to make them shift there arses to where i want them?

oh yeah just found out Lord of the Rings is released in the UK on August 6th

Laterz

I think that let the PC chose your units deployment isn't a wise idea!
Manual deployment is longer but, I'm sure, pays dividend during the battle!

Regards.

Will give it a try, deployment is one of my favoirite parts of the game, sad or what.

What i tend to do as ive said above is to auto deploy then go in and move every thing about to how i want it, just call me weird.

I too tend to use auto deploy and then tweak. While doing so, I have learned three things so far:

(1) You are limited to where you can manually redeploy your forces by the blue flag start line and other "boundaries" that are not indicated on the deploy map. You can test this by selecting a non-AUX unit for redeployment and click on various hexes. If the icon transfers, then it's okay. If the icon doesn't transfer then it can't go there. It took a couple of games for me to figure that out. Basically, you have to stay within the boundaries indicated by your side of the blue start flags and other "invisible" N-S-E-W boundaries. Once the game starts, you are free to move any or all of your forces.

(2) Units designated as AUX are provided by the sceanario designer and cannot be redeployed by the player during the deploy phase. They are hard-wired into their locations. As with other friendly units, you may move them once the game starts.

(3) When replaying scenarios to improve my play/skills, I have also used auto deploy then manual deploy to fine tune my deployments. Admitedly, I am trying to learn from my mistakes in earlier attempts but it does help me improve. In this respect, SPWaW really excels. While each scenario stands alone during replay, the lessons related to organizing your forces and making better "combat wise" deployments carry over to improving your play overall.
