Hello, I have been reading the forums for about a year now and I pick up all kinds of good tips and tricks. Thank you all for that. My question is aircraft entry and exit. Whenever I select the entry and exit space for aircraft, it usually applies to only one aircraft. Even if I select each airplane individually they do not seem to follow the entry and exit I have selected. What do I need to do to get all my airplanes to come and go where I want them to?
Thanks.

Each plane must be done singly...
Click a plane...click enter....click exit...
Click a plane.......you get the idea..

also, do NOT click on those planes which have already been assigned entry and exit afterwards....

when i click on these units to review , their entry and exits are altered to the CURRENT assignments
here's how i do it:
1) open arty assignment screen, open view of exit/entry
2) click target hex (red outline)
3) click entry & exit arrows
4) click assigned aircraft (targeted icon)
5) click target hex
6) click next entry & exit
7) click next assignment aircraft
etc
but do not click already assigned aircraft again

Here is how I deal with that situation: buy lots of atty instead of aircraft. (Unless I'm playing an MC, where I have no choice.) :D

Here is my reasoning:

You get more shots from an atty unit than an airplane. In the many battles that I have fought since discovering SP:WaW I can count on the fingers of one hand the times I've had aircraft available for more than one attack.

By and large, atty hits the general area you order it to. (With the exception of rocket atty, which I find can land all over creation.) You can never be quite sure what target an airplane will select, or even if it will be an enemy vehicle.

Basically, those are my thoughts on the subject, for whatever they are worth. :D

I concur with AMP. and for the same reasons. You don't have unlimited points to spend (usually :) ) , so you'll want to get the best bang for your buck. That most often DOESN'T mean aircraft.

OTH, good tank busters (late war AC w/ rockets, for instance) can wreak far more havoc on an enemy's vehicles than a comparable cost of artillery or ground units. You can buy a lot of Mustangs for what an 155mm OBA Bty costs. :D

My Rule of Thumb:

If you have effective air assets that are reliably available (like the US Army), and you expect a lot of vehicles on the opposing side - buy Air Strikes.

If you have anything less, or you expect a majority of Infantry units on the opposing side - buy Artillery and ammo reloads. :)

The first time I purchased air assets, I was playing the Germans against the Soviets in '41. I loaded up on all the Ju87B's I could buy, thinking I'd have my way with the AI's armor.

First time I called them in, they wiped out T-34s and T-28s and suppressed lots of infantry. I'm thinking: "This will be sweet!"

The second time I called them, I discovered that they no longer had any bombs  Their MGs didn't make much of an impression.

By the time the Ju87G's are available, Soviet armor doesn't seem to be bothered overmuch by the 3.7cm cannons :(

I'd have to concur that artillery is a better deal.

i also concur that arty is the better deal, esp rockets, but aircraft have their place. they are real useful for killing/supressing large concentrations of inf and they can spot otherwise invisible units in your attack or defensive corridors.

also, if you have your ammo settings turned off, they are like the energizer bunny and keep coming & coming with full bomb loadout.

I haven't tried this in a while.

With Unlimited Ammo, do planes still drop bomb loads at (something like) four or six times the normal loadout?

After I watched that occur in earlier versions, I just don't run unlimited ammo with aircraft anymore. :)

yep, they do awesome damage, typically they drop on four hexes with 2 devices (bomb/napalm/etc) each plus mgs. on the way in or just mgs & rockets.

i dont seem to get aircraft available very often so, considering how important they were in WWII, i figure its not totally out of line, but it does affect play balance some.
