Airfield size question - 5/19/2002 4:48:42 PM

I don't have the game, but was reading the manual (thanks to an anonymous sender!) while I wait and had a question:

How do I tell how many planes an airfield can hold? I understand airfield size and how it applies to what sorts of planes andm issions can be used, but how does it correlate to *number* of planes that can be based and/or launched from an airfield?

Also, which units give airfield support? Only bases or doengineering units as well? Do units display how much air support they provide?

Thanks and I look forward to getting the game!

To those requesting the manual, it seems to be too big for my email server to send. Apologies.

I asked the same question during testing and here is the responce I got.

Re: Airfield size

I am going by memory, so someone please correct me if I am wrong here, but you are allowed to base 50 planes per level of airbase without penalty. If you exceed this ratio, there is a .75 mutliplier used to determine size of air strikes per air group. This wasn't in the manual.

Thanks for the answer...so 50xairfield level otherwise the sortie sizes go down.

So as long as you don't mind smaller sorties you can have as many planesat a field as you want...of course the more you have on the ground, the more targets there are to be strafed.

Thanks!

Well, I just went back to the older pleas for the manual. On May 16th there was the "UV Manual" thread where Matrix official asked not to beg for or post the manual on this forum, but to use private e-mail instead. Sorry, I have missed this one. Mea Culpa.
So we better quit whining and wait patiently for some fellow wargamer to find our e-mail address in the profile section. Hell, my game won't be delivered until next Friday - if I'm lucky. We have two holidays in succession here, what a lost opportunity...

They will also consume supplies. You have to feed all those men.

I have an AOL email address that should accept the file size for the manual, so would some kind soul please send one to me, I am one of those unfortunates who ordered the game from Chips and Bits.
PseudoPinoy@aol.com

In return, I could send some WW2-era music which I got from Audiogalaxy if you don't feel like installing Audiogalaxy's questionable software.

Edit: Thanks for the quick response, got the manual already, no need for anyone else to send it to me.
