Update as of October 15 - all games finished except one which should be done this or next week. Great job by everyone to finish all games in less than 3 months!

It looks like we can get to round 3 at the beginning of November. I need to wait a little with the pairings as both guggy and AussieBoMbR still can qualify and I'd like to assign new opponents as much as possible, or reversed match-ups at least.

End of round 2:

The number of Axis victories is 5 vs. 2 Allied victories, however at least two games went full distance. Maybe round 3 will show more Allied victories?

If the rule is still one draw bring to next round, we will have to go too many rounds to finish the tournament.
Maybe we can change it a bit, like player who will enter to round 4 should have at least one win and should not have any decisive loss ?

So far no player has needed the draw rule as all games were at least substantial victories (as far as I know). As we have seen 2 players dropping out in each round I see no reason (yet) to change the rules for round 3. The downside to your proposal is that if each player has one decisive win (e.g. as Axis) that automatically disqualifies each of them (as Allies).

Assuming all players qualify for round 4 we might consider implementing something different. Let's see how round 3 goes...

Argggh, it happened again

I received a message from AussieBoMBr and he is dropping out. Thus the games against Armorhero and myself are counted as victories. I hate to qualify this way but that's life .

I have not thought about any rule changes for round 4 yet due to the sudden stop. The last game still on is for honour and glory only as both xianing (counting a strong Germany in 1946 as Axis victory) and SGT Rice have already qualified.

Maybe we could have a last 2V2 game to finish the tournament ?
Sides are chosen randomly.
The pair who win the game are both winners of the tournament.
Does this sound ?

Here are the rules for the final 3 rounds:

With 4 players left a total of 3 rounds will be played, allowing each player to face all others one-by-one. In the end the player with the highest total score of all 3 rounds wins.

Per round each player will take the Axis and Allied side in one game (as before). The scoring will be based on actual result (Victory levels: AV, DV, etc.). However due to the bug in GG4.040 the following will apply:

1. Axis Auto Victory: Axis reaches and holds 83 VP at end of Wallied turn. I highlighted this vs. Decisive victory as there should be an incentive for the Axis player to actually try to AV.
2. Decisive Axis victory: Axis does not surrender until end of Fall 1946 turn.
3. Substantive Axis victory: Axis surrenders after end of Fall 1946 turn. For surrender determination: see 2.
4. Marginal Axis victory: Axis surrenders after end of Summer 1946 turn. For surrender determination: see 2.
5. Draw: Axis surrenders after end of Spring 1946 turn. For surrender determination: see 2.
6. Marginal Allied victory: Axis surrenders after end of Winter 1946 turn. For surrender determination: see 2.
7. Substantive Allied victory: Axis surrenders after end of Fall 1945 turn. For surrender determination: see 2.
8. Decisive Allied victory: Axis surrenders prior to Fall 1945. For surrender determination: see 2.

For surrender determination: see V.1040 release notes (summarized here):
Germany: must have lost either E. or W. Germany region and 2 out of the other small German national regions – or both W. and E. Germany.

Japan: must either have been conquered (Honshu region) or IF
(the a-bomb is dropped on a factory in a non-zero population Japanese nationality region AND causes a double hit AND at the end of that same turn the Japanese VPs is below 7 AND Japan at war with Russia)

OR (the US has the bomb AND Japan has no regions with both a working factory and non-zero population AND at the end of the turn the Japanese VPs is below 7 AND Japan at war with Russia.

The bug in the mod prevents the use of the automatic check (typically one turn delay) For Cases 2 through 8 the highest victory points achieved by the Axis at any time need to be factored in (shift possible).

Now to scoring:
The scoring will be slightly favouring the Allied successes as the previous rounds have shown an imbalance.
