Since checking the "not an April Fools Joke" thread, I've been checking every day for this new patch. What is the current scuttlebut for a release??

The patch is 100% done, approved, and ready to be released. Matrix might need a bit of time to cobble together the press release, but there is no longer any problem with the patch itself or the installer. I guess you should just check the usual place periodically.

What exactly is in the patch and why does it make saves incompatible? Is it worth starting a new game, or finishing off your existing one?
Ron

Well, since more than one person has asked, I'll post the "ReadMe" update here. As for why it makes saves incompatible, I can't give you the precise reason, but in general the reason is that one or more changes were made to the save-file structures. I can't advise you on whether to finish your current game -- I guess it depends on whether you see the game as half full or half empty.

Well, yes, though during the final push to finish COG:EE we were more "hardly working," unfortunately.

A ton of credit goes to the testers, of course. They put a lot of time into this patch as well, and made numerous contributions.

The short answer is, yes, that's all in there.

The longer answer is that when I saw this post I went to the file to doublecheck, and didn't see them at the end of the file where new units go, so shocked that I could have left them out I spent 10 minutes going through various files to see how I could have messed this up. Only then did I go to the original thread you started and see that they were in the game from the beginning (LU#53), and that's why they weren't there with the two new LU's, Perry's Saints and Rush's Lancers. (Those new LU's were created by the late Bill Hawthorne, known here as wzh55, in the weeks before he died. I posted them as a mod, but now they're officially in the game. I think we forgot to mention this in the patch documentation.)

Allright then. Sounds like "soon" remains the word.

By the way, Gil, did you just forget to mention the INTERFACE UPDATE: "Zoom" for the detailed battles, or it effectively didn't make it for the patch?

Marvelous! It's just that it was mentioned under "strategic level".
