Completed Hard Fr vs AI game. Siege bug annoying but not a game breaker.

AI: Prussia fought very well similar to earliest edition, only flaw was fought too long. It could have ended war early and gained/kept a load of territory. Fighting to last cost her all minors and as the idiot AI does too often re-built her army in Portugal not Prussia.

Brit AI captured Holland quickly thanks to bug and chits. After being destroyed the Brit CAB attacked cross channel continually to destruction. Brit INF built in Cork. Aus sat quiet watching all this destruction not joining war till Prussia War 2 broke out. Dispersed strength overmuch but game ended 12/09 (TURKS WON) before their tactics proved poor (or unlikely, NOT). Rus long delayed war on Swedes, lapsing on Brit control of Sw. Declared war on Fr after Fr CONQ Sw. Made poor effort in Finland and Fr quickly occupied ST. Pete's after wiping out all Russ in Northern area. 2 Corps defeated 10??? it seemed.

In Far east Russ crossed Chechnya border and stopped while Turks did likewise with Persia after taking Egypt. Turk crossed Cyrn. border and stopped cluelessly as Sp did Algeria.

Allied Minors still not building new troops for AI Controlled majors. Unacceptable error carried version after version.

AI (except Pruss) showed no improvement, if anything got stupider. Naval evasion was present and despite some blockade slipping the RN maintained control in Atlantic. HARD Victory Conditions unchanged and still unwinable by non-AI player.

Fr has new Corps but it has no capacity.

The annoying "Wanna build a Corps?" message gone if none available!!!

Thanks for the feedback Easterner!
Were there any AI MPs that attempted any deep invasions?

Prussia successfully took Paris from me bypassing multi-targets to get there. They however kept their forces too dispersed and were defeated in detail. They should have sued for peace as odds were they'd keep several minors but instead waited till Berlin besieged.

In 2nd game I started MEDIUM the AI is still got a heavy VP bulge, but it may not be insurmountable. Austria took Constantinople and Turks UNCOND to Au & Rs.

Those are the only deep probes I've seen.

In 2nd game a tremendous back & forth battle for Finland was finally won by Fr with fall of St. Pete's. FR/Sw were retreated to Abo 3-4 times with a boatload of battles between Sweborg & Vyborg.

That sounds a little better since I have added some more code to get the AI to go a little deeper into their enemies as opposed to just sitting. Invasion maintenance sounds like my next step!
Good stuff! Appreciate the help!

when will there be another edition, so that the enemy will not just bypass your corps and besige the city you are at?

I have submitted 1.06.01 to the testers as we speak. We are having a few install issues at the moment but this will be fixed in the 1.06.01 BETA.

Hi Marshall
any word on the 1.06.01 upgrade timing? Also, was the reason could bypass stacks in these instances, because the stack had a depot present as well as corps?

Hi Marshall,
will the above update resolve the problems some of us have been having with the editor, IE running and reloading a saved senario?

I was having scenario validation issues that were happening only in the release candidate.

Complete
Brit-Med

Fr- 76%
Br- 70%
Sp- 89%
Pr- 101%
Tu- 96%
Ru- 81%
Au- 89%

Only 3 Major Wars

Br vs Fr
Br vs Ru
Br vs Sp.

At one point all 3 were happening simultaneously.

1805

Br blockades Fr/ Dutch they started widely scattered in Med, Biscay & Channel.

Rus declares phony war on Swede (Br), Sp phony on Port (Fr) Unknown on Dalmatia (Fr) Au double phony on Papacy(Pr)/Naples (Sp) and Fr phony on Aus influenced Belgium area (Pr). Remainder of Germany and north Italy was conquored.

Br entered open Lille area and wiped out quickly, memo: Send corps with more than 1 factor next time.....sigh.

Rus though then declared on Br, won 3 straight naval actions against Swede (2) Br reaction force till chased to Riga on 4th try. Br sent 2 corps to Finn & 2 Swede corps. Rus made no advance.  Alliance took St. Pete's, RN captured all Ru transports and 1808-09 campaign took Moscow...easily. The Rus Conditionaled to Brits. Bulk of army snoozed on Black Sea coast by Turkey.

In Med Brit corp on Malta (OH thats where all my factors were.... sigh) took Sardinia & Corsica.  Had eyes on Naples but Sp grabbed it. Br decided it must have Naples.

Sp fleet moved to Naples. Br moved to Naples. Sp fleet moved to Taranto.  Br upset stripped Med of blocade forces and burnt Sp fleet this occurred in most odd way, described in BUG REPORT, and was retreated a sea Zone after victory. Sp White Peaced and Brits took Portugal from Fr.

With Sp war over and Rus war not long after major forces freed for Euro Ops. Moore took Trip & Tunis despite not being allowed to DoW from Italy.

Bulk of army with 2 Swede Corps crossed into Lille while Moore from Med landed in Lorient. Fr fleets burned but Davout & 4 Corps wiped Moore out. The Alliance encountered Nappy & 1 Corps and lost twice. Br grabbed low countries and Rhine/North Sea area minors while retreating. Half of Soults Genoa army linked with Nappy and La Grande Armee retook Brussels & Munster. Davout stayed in Lorient but sent 1 Corps to Lille and 2 to Flanders. 3 Brits amphibbed onto Oldenberg bringing Alliance to full strength 6 Br & 1 Swede Corps. Another swede (2 Cav) had retreated to Brit and another added to Army. In two shattering battle La Grande Armee destroyed and Nappy captured joining previously captured Massena. Fr declined Moore for Masenna swap.

Br retook Munster and Flanders wiping out 2 Davout corps. Lille and Paris next on docket when 12/11 Prus declared victory!!!!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AI getting quite a VP bumb, seems higher than older versions which were surmountable.

AI lack of aggression too annoying. Fr & Au need be more active as somnolent Pruss win if undisturbed. AI needs to react to other AI & Players rising VP total vis a vis their own.

AI still won't build minors. This is in my opinion the most glaring failure of system. There is no reason for it and it cripples AI war effort the last thing they need.

DoW over water was not a problem in earlier versions, new to 1.06. Not consistant as DoW on Sardinia not disallowed.

Phony wars getting too prevalent. AI need be programmed to head for capital on all DoW's, Phony Wars bushleague stuff players pull in boardgame.

Sp still can't figure out overland to Algeria as Rus can't figure out Caucasus campaign. Back in 1.04 both did slightly better so deteriorating performance.

Pr still can't figure out crossing arrows to Denmark (Fr), so Brits swooped in and grabbed it. If Pr is diplomed to attack island it will do so and then stumble into Copenhagen, shouldn't need a bribe to carry out its own DoW!!!!

New start OB options look good so far.

Diplomacy option to request a DoW by AI ally should be added to menu.

Easterner:

Thanks for the insight! BTW: I am nuking the AI VP bonuses in 1.07. You are correct. They are simply too high at this point.

Is it too early to start asking what might be in 1.07? Some improvements to graphics (i.e. arrows that show corps and fleet movement), and the above changes to the VP bonus, have been mentioned. Any hope that my favourite topic of a faster PBEM game might be in 1.07?

If we are still too far away, then maybe just say so, rather than creating expectations. I'm hoping that 1.06 will be wrapping up soon.

Started MED-level as Russ. Very interesting and enjoyable. Despite no chance at victory from VP levels.

Pru declared on FR for no known reason (thanks though) Fr called to Allies (TU) PR called to AU & RS so 6 power war on, only SP is out. AI plays historical, slow, months of inactivity, misses opportunities. So none of the hammers and tongs humans turn EIA into.

RS launched a 5 front war. Having conquered TRIP (despite no DoW allowed over water) RS sent another Corps to Afr and captured CYR. Then invaded Palestine. Captured it but wiped out to last man by Turks. BR owned TUN defeated Russ attack pre-mega-war.

Captured all Caucasus minors and occupied 2 East Turk capitals then retreated Alex & 2 Corps to winter quarters from depot shortage.

Captured Bessarabia/Galatz capitals. Unexpected Turk counterattack wiped out Corps/Benny captured. Killed the 2 Turk Corps then retreated 6 Corps to winter quarters from depot shortage. Arty & Gds both present.

Sent Army to Venitia inherited from Au after they dropped Unstable(I guess???? never seen any sign of it though have done it myself from over DoW-ing) at some point which the Aus AI does a lot. Rus owned Naples, Papacy, Sardinia and soon grabbed Corsica. Rus army wiped out too. Minors changed hands quite a bit. Piedmont went: FR-RS-FR-AU-FR-RS as is currently (now 1810). Rus has rebuilt ITAL ARMY using phenominal 34 INF per ECON phase despite manipulating away 8 manpower too.

Last front is Germany where Depots most needed. Rus Army wiped out twice by Fr yet in 1810 the Germ Army III has linked with ITALY II and are camped outside Paris, Nappy who is too often put with a lone corps is captured as are two other Marshalls while TU & FR each hold Benny & the Bagger. AU & PR have periods of activity and somnolence protecting them from the dozen or so RUS corps lost to FR chitting the RUS but good but they are making only minor gains. Currently AU army is sleeping in Vienna, the PR are scattered in PR territory with one corps in Alsace. Fr has mega-army at Paris and a Corps adjacent.

Diplomacy.

I have never been fond of the AI Diplo, but it does protect the AI from exploitation...but too well. For instance, ask them to do things they get to break alliance FOR FREE!!! I do not recall a similar freebie in boardgame except not honoring a call to Allies I think. The Prus broke the alliance with RUS after RS gave them $4.00. I guess they were insulted by the offer! Once other issues ironed out Diplo needs re-visiting.

Would like to see:

Land swap offer, Minor for minor. Currently PC can give stuff away but AI won't give time of day.

Request for DoW.

Request for joint move.

Corps loan request.

Easterner:

Those rediculous VP bonuses will be gone in 1.07!
Very good detail in your reports that allow me to save and analyze!
I REALLY appreciate these!
