Axis Fall 42

OK I'll describe full Fall 42 turn

Major axis effort was big assualt on Kharkov which included knocking out rail. Besides the screenshot German FT, HB and TAC damaged prior.

All but 1 Russian tank now in build queue but decent attrition of German forces esp ART and Kharkov is still Russian with 1st winter turn next

Other actions Persia was retaken by Axis and 4 damaged trannies by subs

In Russian turn Kharkov was majorly reinforced. Small attrition attack from Veli to Eastern Poland. Small reinforcements to face North Persia from Caucasus and Kazakstan

End of turn around east India - Allies had retreated from Singapore in previous turn but have put 2 INF and an ART in Borneo

East Indian forces patched up to hopefully fend off Japanese land forces

Japan had sunk a 2 trannies used to move to Borneo and keep Sumatra in supply chain, and a BB that had sheltered in Bismark Arch after raiding from Pearl. Also sub damaged

TAC and CAP air bombard Saudi with RN help and get ART out

Lone MIL there is kicked out by Brit INF from IEA. Maybe can now create a chance to cut off far eastern Axis forces

Well we're back and playing after a week of intermission, BenT has been busy at work...

Ill start off with previous turn...

AXIS WINTER '43

Well the massive stand off in Kharkov spooked the axis (soviets had large amount of supplies come in through archangel so could have managed a counter attack...i think), and given that axis forces are frezeing their asses off with inappropriate equipment and clothing a massive pullback is ordered to avoid any unnecessary losses from the Russian winter...

So majority of the german turn focuses around axis withdrawn in kiev and expansion of axis economy by repairing supplies damaged in allied bombing
raids...

Axis do however venture into southern persia to threaten indian forces which are still a threat to the middle east and a number of trannies are also sunk in the atlantic again...

So before and after in europe...

BEFORE

In the Pacific however things arent as bland, with the IJN getting into action in the indian ocean to help sure up german positions in the midle east and india and seriously threaten british supply lines...

To start off a veteran carrier unit is sent into attack HMS Indomitable lurking around the gulf of aden with better than expected results ending up in the british carrier sent to the bottom of the sea with no japanese losses...and with the jap carrier sitting where it is there are going to be plenty of op fire oppurtunities for retreating british ships

a LF is also attacked by a second carrier of the western coast of india...

Following the cut in british supply lines japanese forces amphibously land in southern india to prevent further production of supplies and majority of IJA chinese expeditionary force push into mandalay to threaten calcutta...

Meanwhile in the DEI, musashi's massive 18" badboys bombard coastal artillery batteries in sumatra and para troopers succesfully land there, booting out the ghurkhas and allowing japan to access the tasty resources.....

Other than that things are relatively slow for the japanese...as mentioned before the US DOW really stuffed up expansion operations with a large number of transports getting sunk and giving mccarthur time to set up artillery positions to slow progress....(need to watch this closer next time)...

So the scene in the indian ocean:

As BenT is a little busy im doing the AAR for the allies turn...

So in WINTER 43 it looks like the soviets are generally content to build up supplies and forces whilst avoiding any conflict however the USN starts taking some pretty big risks in the pacific...

Picutre of soviets building up forces in leningrad, red army has also pushed into northern persia...

ALLIES W43
Meanwhile in the pacific the USN's CVs attack surface fleets hanging off the coast of china and nail a LF and send a HF back to the drydock...

And a number of battle ships that survived 'the pearl harbour that never happenned' engage the japanese in the java sea but the attack turns out to be suicide...

ALLIES W43
The retreat of a number of british LF's around the gulf of aden also proves to be very fruitful for the Japs with a couple of LF's damaged and one sunk...

Back in europe allied bombers run a number of sorties damaging a few resources but the axis flak batteris also get some of their own back with a tac damaged...

AXIS SPRING 43

Last turn the russians chose not to advance to the german front line while the english spent time bombing some german resources that werent protected

The lull in fighting is good forthe axis giving them time to repair some of the damage done and build up more resources for the fight that will continue in the east...so virtually no action in europe apart from some factory damage in moscow and yet again more trannies sunk in the atlantic...

So a recap on the situation that appears to be unfolding in europe:

1) Axis have severly hampered allied supply lines around africa so the middle east is looking reasonably secure apart from some russian forces in persia

2) Axis have virtually taken india

3) Wallies have suffered some moderate losses on the ground in the middle east which means that 'D-day' is still probably at least 6 months off?

4) Britain is full of aircraft so it looks like the english will be focusing on bombing german resources for the next 6 months

5) Axis subs continue to harass atlantic trannies but allies have invested in anti sub research for a number of units and have heavily protected tranny passage into the barents sea to continue lend lease plan to russia...

6) Soviets have had some time to regroup from early losses and are starting to look threatening...

All in all it looks like the allies are going to give all they've got to the russians to use them to help smash the wehrmacht while the wallies back up with bombing runs...

AXIS SPRING 43

In the pacific the USN raids on japanese shipping attract the wrath of yamamoto and a full carrier strike is ordered on the two lonely CV's floating near Wake with devastating results...

As for the remaining USN surface fleets lurking around the arafura sea they are dispatched back to the drydock and one veteran light fleet goes down...

Japanese expand into india but other than that territorial expansion is halted to allow for resource repair...

So the situation unfolding in the pacific:

1) India is axis

2) China is axis

3) The expansion into the DEI is going slow because of the US DOW when spain joined the axis...

4) Japanese navy is well on top with two US carrier vessels going down and the the rest of the allies Cv's in the northern atlantic...

So it would appear the focus for the Allies is on Russia defeating the germans early and then moving to the pacific, lets hope the germans can hold out long enough for the japanese to become unstoppable...

MURDER ON THE HIGH SEAS...

As it seems this game is becoming the limiting factor for kickstart of round 2 - any chance for a fastpaced finish?

Both of you still have a shotat round 2 but you need to earn it

O.K. from what I received in replies was Aussie's assurance that he was on the winning side in 1945 and as BenT has made himself rare I made the decision to stop this game here and declare Aussie the winner.
