Who all is planning to attend WiFCon 2009 (August 7-16)? Will Matrix be there with a beta version to view?

It would be nice...and Lansing isn't that far. I know I can't take a full week off for it, but it might be cool to go down for a scenario.

I'll start looking into it.

I want to go and play Japan/Italy, but the future is uncertain and the end is always near. I think I'll have to ask the Magic 8-Ball the question again.

I have never made it but thought it might be interesting to go. My schedule depends on how the fan site is coming along.

Anybody knows where/when will be the Euro WifCon? I have been surfing the net, saw some photos of previous meeteings, some photos and some info in German that I cannot understand, but can'f find these. I know it uses to be in Germany and that's all.

If I can I would like to go and look at the games. I am not ready to pay by far, not only because of my level (I am still bitterly finding rules I don't know while I play) but playing in a championship has it's own rules...

Sadly no, but if some one who is going could bring a digital camera and take some photos and upload them, that would be nice. As always, since I'm working with the setups of both minor and major power that is extra interesting beside the games themselves.

Ahhh...the memories of 2003 Euro-WiFcon...

An interesting story(one amoung many)...to be short about it...my team mate brought his game...we were still in the habit of placing national control markers. One day after lunch with the Danes we were playing, we notice all the swastikas on our map had damage markers on top of them. Running in comes Kai Kunz with a red face and all excited speaking in german accent English how we cant use the swastika markers, etc... Something about swastikas being illegal and Euro WiFcon not being allowed back to the shooting hall if we are not careful. Us Americans and the Danes playing with us laughed at him. Hakon punished us later by adjudicating us all a ZERO score. But we had fun.

Nor will Jagdtiger forget the glorious closely-run battle of 2004/

2 more impulses was all we needed.

Thank God the computer game uses 'auto-arrange' for the counters!!!!!!!!!

Some of the counters look like they were just tossed onto the map like coins in a penny flip game lol - j/k. However, CW does seems to have the best organized counter stacks...

I didn't read everything so, what did you mean about needing 2 impulses?

Looks like Germany got smashed really hard that last turn.

I can not play at the con itself, but since I only live 45 minutes away from it, I will drop by on the first saturday of the Con and say hi.... I will try and remember to take pictures of some of the tables.

It is my opinion that if the Allies had 2 more impulses in J/A 1945, they would have taken: Antwerp, Kiel, Munich, Helsinki, Warsaw, Amsterdam at the least. This would have meant a tie game (15 axis objectives). M/J the allies had 3 impulses, 2 of which were "1" on the weather.

A very close, very fun game.

If you go to http://soapyfrog.net , Paul has several other WiFCon game reports posted.

One observation I took away from WiFCon is that the player with the organized stacks is usually a skilled player and dangerous opponent.

Talked it over with Bob today and gave the definite no for this year. I already pretty much spent the money and free time on marketing to try and expand my business instead. It was hard to do, but I still have some pretty large bills from last year as well. I'll miss it, a lot.

Steve,

Thanks for the memories! Which game did you like most?...2004 or 2005? I'll go to war with you on my side anytime!

For me, 2004 was a lot more fun. The game was very close, and those Canadians were a riot.

2005 was not so good because we were years away from conquering Germany (although Japan took it in the shorts).

Maybe next year for you guys ...

I liked 2005 better even though US entry totaly sucked(worst ever at WiFcon). Remember in 2005 we were playing Rader and Pablo...both fantastic players and funny as hell. Rader was about to surrender the game after he attempted Sealion and you stuffed him...then he walks out of the hall to clear his mind. If we had accepted his surrender, we probably would have won the con, and against the almighty Rader...winner of the con the previous three years prior to that.

I had a lot of fun in 2004 as well...playing with fun and interesting people makes the trip well worth it!
