Yeah
Lost one early on, and the one I captured from the Dons I foolishly attached to one of these armies and brought it to battle...Goes without saying that it took just a few too many casualties and was lost again...
But Arty units are high on my to build list now as soon as I get my economy back on track.
First thing ofc will be to rebuild Millitias to keep as garrisons, then I will have to start on building higher quality units.

Is the game still going and will the AAR continue?

Thank you both.
Yes, the game is still ongoing and yes, the AAR will be updated (most likely tomorrow as I now finally have some spare time)

The Spanish takes the war out on the puplic. They reveal to everyone just what savages they are. When the war is taken into Spain, the country will burn untill nothing is left!

Meanwhile the Russian troops do the clever thing in their fighting. Brave men those Russians!

Although we force Spain back, they still manage to retake cities as we simply do not have enough millitia to take up positions in our fortresses. Our economy is nowhere ready for a war of this magnitude, and this war gives us even less time to expand our economy, as our main focus now is to recruit millitia. This even means that we have difficulty raising more regular troops so that we can field another army. But we MUST retake and hold our cities due to supply-chains..

The war goes on in a familiar pattern, we retake cities, and then small Spanish formation sneak back in and retake them again...Millitia production is increased at the expense of anything else.

But we must not forget, we are also at war with Austria, and our allies perform nicely. Too bad we cannot afford to send our troops into Vienna and help cripple Austria!
But we are slowly pushing the Dons back towards the border.

It seems Spain has managed to withdraw his armies into Spain proper. Well, we can use the break to as our divisions needs reinforcements. The bad part is...I am 99.99% certain that Spain will rebuild his shattered divisions, and this time with better trained recruits. This means that we will force a stronger Spanish army the next time around.

Our economy cannot keep up with our wartime needs. We are low on labour and money, unfortunately the only thing we can "afford" to do is to shorten our supply lines as much as possible.

What has been feared for some time comes true. The war with Austria lapses, this happens as no battles/sieges has been fought for a year. That means that we will not gain any spoils of war from Austria.

There is a phrase that claims that accidents happens in threes.
Last turn the war with Austria ends (1).
Now a Spanish army advances from Italy (2).
And another Spanish army advances from Spain (3).
We gather our forces to meet the onccoming armies. Will the fate of France be decided in the coming months?

Well, is the Spanish are going to tkae us on on the battlefield, we might be better off spending our tech-points now. Since we have alot of INF and less of CAV and ARTY, I go for an upgrade that boost our INF.

Last turn Austria tried to make a non-agression pact between us. I decided I could accept that if I got some territory (this is mainly to give Austria one less province to threathen me from), but to get that agreed upon, I have to guarantee peace for a longer period of time than Austria.

What I took for a major Spanish army proves to be nothign but a division of irregular cavalry. Nevertheless this means one less division that Spain can field against us later.
Russia seems to be pushed around a bit as of lately as Britains excellent ground troops enters Europe proper.

I start every turn by looking at the different reports, and this time the rumor reports got my attention.
Well....attention...It got me choking on my breakfast really...
I hope these rumors are just that, rumors.

(OOC: It is possible for players to plant false rumors, I hope this is what has happened)

I know that Spain leads, I am third (I believe) and I think Britain is number two, but I'll post that for the next turn.

Well this month made us raise a few eyebrows...Something is going on, could the Spanish army be back in strength? If so it seems the 2nd Spanish invasion takes place at the same time we invade Spain. This might mean that we need to fall back towards Paris. But hopefully the unit I see is only a rouge division trying to make some damage by cutting supply lines. Well, good luck with that!

Nothing unexpected here really, Spain moves into Paris, and as a result our economy plummets, but the Spanish supply lines grow longer and more vulnerable. If I am able to break them this turn, then an attack will take place against the Spanish army next turn.

It seems the British are once more Pro-France after the abdication of King Mus The Fallen ( sorry Mus). We accept the proposed deal which also includes us trading them 10 wine for 20 $. We have far more need of money now anyways, so this is all in our advantage. Our main focus is still the defeat of Spain!

Victory in Paris! The crowd are all out to welcome the Emperor home to his palace. Unfortunately it seems that the Spanish garrison troops had dug a tunnell stretching some 250kms to the south...

Turn 92

With the Dons fighting a coalition of France, Britain and Sweden, they seem to have run south into Spain. We take the oppertunity to retake some of our southern cities. For the time being all available resources are spent on training garrison troops to guard those cities as soon as they are liberated. Unfortunately our economy is so poor at the moment that we can only train two of these millitia style units per month.
Also being considered is where to go after we liberate all of France. We have two options;
a) head straigth into Spain to end the war as soon as possible
b) head into Italy to take Spanish protectorates there.

There are pros and cons to both.
Pro-A; we get to rebuild our nation sooner, we do not need to worry about the main Spanish army as we will be between it and Paris
Con-A; we will not get too many provinces from Spain, and we want to increase both our war score and our empire rating so we can form an empire.

Pro-B; We get to "liberate" more provinces, thereby increasing our population, our glory and our empire rating.
Con-B; what happens if the Dons once more march on Paris? And the war will last longer.

Any ideas?

Nice to see an update. As for where to go, I'd probably let discretion be the better part of valor and head to Spain to end hostilities as soon as possible. Your economy needs to be stabilized, and heading to Italy would stretch your forces even more. It would take a while to come up with troops to garrison any new holdings. And the Austrians might look at your expansion in their backyard as an excuse to expand even further at your expense.

Let us all know how things turn out.
