I have an austrian trade of 4 luxeries for 5 cotton, i do not mind this trade however can we have a house rule;
Dont make trades that havent been discussed via email, as it would cost the player moral to break it if they dont want (previously having no chance to deny/negotiate it).
I agree. I admit I made the same mistake (sending out trade requests without consulting the player). I managed to catch mine in time and resend the turn.
I THINK you can prevent this by turning OFF trade with all other countries or turning off all import/exports except what you agree too. I don't think turning these off/on after a trade route is going matters (but will post a question in the main forum).
The trade can be mostly controlled through the PBEM preferences but I agree that it would still be a good thing to have it as a house rule to give the players comeplete control over the trading.
I guess if you want to be sure you don't get a "bad" trade, simply turn on your trade settings only on very specific times for very specific trades. I doubt someone would be able to "slip in" (ie. give the exact same import/export settings, etc.).
If you don't want to trade with someone, simply toggle that country off.
Also, anyone know what happens to trade routes established with minor countries when the province is taken over by another country? I noticed a lot of minor country routes running about.

Minor countries trade routes stay in place when they are conquered, same with enemy provinces.
One way to break a trade route without morale loss - change your production for a turn so that you aren't producing enough goods to satisfy the amount of goods being traded. If it's money coming from your end though, there is no way to do that. I think it still works this way - it was that way in COG original.
Bad weather will sometimes break trade routes as well, when production falls. Russia has a hard time with this especially.
I also sent a trade request without checking first, hopefully it will fail.
One thing we can do is post our PBEM set up in the other thread so people can know what will be accepted ahead of time.
Edit: Also I notice that the attitude which shows on the diplomacy screen will still be used when considering trades.
This in a way is kind of a good thing I think - it makes it so you have to pay more to trade with people who really shouldn't like you. Even the most powerful ruler probably can't have 100% control over the attitudes of the mercantile class.
I think the attrition level is WRONG (ie. standard and not Bonaparte). I would think we would want to restart, as we have only done one turn.
That would mean Guctony would need to 'start PBEM' again (make sure you get the settings right ) this time with Bonaparte attrition levels, do your turn again and send to everyone else.
FYI. For reference below is from the manual regarding "March Attrition"
2.6.5 March Attrition (higher difficulty levels) March Attrition only operates at higher difficulty levels, as shown on the setup screen at the beginning of the game. It only affects human players. Each time a unit moves to a new province, it loses a certain amount of Strength, depending on the game’s difficulty level, as shown on the Setup screen. This percentage only applies to Strength above a level equal to 300xMorale. (So, for example, a unit with Strength 10000 and Morale 5, suffering March Attrition of 10%, would lose 10% of (10000-(300x5)); 10% of 10000-1500 is 10% of 8500, which is 850.) The following modifiers are multiplicative: Units in friendly provinces only lose 80%• Units moving on roads lose 66%• Units with the Baggage Train special ability lose 66%• Artillery lose 33%• Units lose 125% when moving into or out of a province with Snow or • Heavy Snow Units under Force March lose 150%•
Looks like the majority are for a quick restart. As soon as guctony gets on, he can crank out the new game (make sure to put BONAPARTE this time ), and away we go.
This also gives everyone a chance to redo trades that apparently a lot of us messed up eariler.
I have killed my good computer. Bad virus/worm destroyed my OS. I am operating now on an old computer with no video card and limited memory with no copy of COG on it of course.
My copy of XP is evidently not going to work either to reformat, a bad disc it seems.
Sorry about this, but I need to consider if it's time to buy a new computer with Windows 7 or stick with XP or what, it may take a while since it involves how I run my business also.
So, I will regretfully need to withdraw from the game as it may be a month or more before I get everything squared away.
DO NOT OPEN ANY EMAILS FROM MY GMAIL ACCOUNT - not sure if it's a problem but you never know. Please delete that address from your contacts too.
Has anyone heard from Deadmeat or Guctony? I notice neither has been on in the last 48+ hours.
If we want to switch to "vanilla" 1792 Denmark (ie. no ALL Generals mod), I think we may be able to recuit either lenin or Ironwarrior.
For anyone reading this and IS a new player, as of this moment SPAIN is open for a 1792 Denmark game (I don't think Lenin or Ironwarrior would mind giving up a slot to a newbie). Please post on this thread.
Good luck with your computer situation Dab. It is a real pain when that kind of thing happens.
My preference/vote would still be to use the "All Generals" mod.
Just to spice up the discussion a bit does the 15% March Attrition seem to anyone else perhaps a bit too damaging. Not really asking to change it since we have all agreed. Just curious for others opinions.
The 15% march attrition is adjusted by certain things.
First, a minimum of 3000+(300* morale) suffers NO attrition. (The rulebook is wrong we found out in another thread).
Second, roads, moving into friendly provinces, etc., do also.
That being said, I don't mind a reduction. Did you have a specific level in mind? (10%, maybe?) (don't have the rules in front of me so don't know what that would be)?
At 10%, for a 10,000 man division (5.0 morale) marching on roads in a friendly province, that would be a marching loss of 290 men. (Assuming my calculations are correct).
I have contacted briny_norman, who just missed making it into this game last time, to see if he is interested in replacing Dab as Spain.
Lets try this ONE more time (you know it couldn't be easy as we thought it was).
We need to confirm everyone still wants to play. I'll go ahead and mark you CONFIRMED if you have checked in during the last 24 hours. If for some reason you want out, drop me a line.
Is briny_norman new to PBEM? Just that Spain merges the game files. I haven't done this, so I don't know if that's an issue. However, I have heard there can be problems...

It isnt as damaging as you might think. Im a player in several other PBEM games with Bonaparte attrition. As long as you have sufficient replacements you can keep up with march attrition. If you are doing alot of Force marching over really long distances with large forces it can start to put a severe strain on your replacement situation.
Thats actually pretty good IMO. It forces a more realistic operational tempo on the game, which is why I like it and vote for it in the games I am in. YMMV.
Still haven't heard from Turkey/Deadmeat though I noticed he was on line earlier.
I know we could probably recuit some of the more experienced players as "filler" but the 2 who expressed the most interest both stated that they wanted to play "standard" (ie. non-modded) scenerios. Would everyone be willing to switch to standard 1792 Denmark if that was the only way to fill the game? I know I would rather get SOMETHING rolling at this point, rather than wait for the "perfect" game.
I won't "officially" send anyone out an invite yet, until we can confirm in Deadmeat/Turkey is in or out. Also, I have several invites out to new players, so I am not sure if one of them wants to play.
<removed request about changing march attrition per Carl. He had a good point that Gutony had already sent files back out>
