Today the 2nd of July 2009 Somalian Pirates captured a Chinese Freighter east of Somalia. The Freighter was a Earmarked target due his high valuable cargo. The Cargo , manuals for a PC game “War in the Pacific Admirals Edition”, has an estimated value of 30 Million US dollar. While a Carrier in the area was available it wasn’t operational due a Golf competition on the flight deck. A nearby Battleship the “USS Blind Buccaneer” opened fire on one of the pirate speedboats but missed it. In a second attempt the” USS Blind Buccaneer” accidentally shot a full volley at the Chinese Freighter. The Freighter almost sunk immediately.

The question remaining is… WERE THE AE MANUALS WATERPROOF?

The freighter "almost sunk immediately"? What's the problem? It clearly didn't sank.

The scene 30 seconds later was not interesting to post. But here it is

It's a good thing that Matrix hasn't taken any preorders!

Nothing. Jaws43 thinks he's being funny.

And he's not on the dev or testing teams, just to remove any confusion.

Don't try and give us false hope. The pirates got us on this one,its over man,Game over! We need another printing and a new Chinese ship. Also, did you see what our insurance rates went up to?
Terminus just stop it man, just stop. We all know how you try and buck up our spirits and encourage us. But termie baby, you see life and events through rose colored glasses. You also look on the bright side of things and real life man, well its just not that way bro. So just tell us the straight skinny baby, tell us its now a September release, due to pirates.

We love ya man.

T an optimist? OK, now I have heard everything.

I think he is a great WitP curmudgeon, or grognard. Either description fits, a evening in a saloon with him, Pasternaski and Bobo would probably be intensely entertaining. Or perhaps like a missing act in Waiting for Godot.

My vote would be for INTENSELY entertaining! Hopefully the meeting won't be in Texas (Bobo's home) or gunplay and bloodshed could result!

Not that there is anything wrong with gunplay and bloodshed, provided the proper amount of drinking has been done beforehand.

It sustained 69Flt damage, 33 sys damage. It does have fires at 25 so we expect more sys damage.

Unfortunately the freighter is still under the old WITP system and there isn't a port bigger than size 3 within the next 80 hexes so it looks like we are doomed.

Yeah , unfortunately AE must be a highly anticipated item for the somali pirates as well and they wanted to get a head start on the PBEM crowd, as you can see they confiscated the manuals. Pictures don't lie.

We all know that the freighter did not sink immediately. The captain put in at a LVL 1 port where we all know that it had sophisticated dockyards and dry docks to help alleviate the flooding. It would appear that this freighter is on one of those used in WITP, and does not have a compartmentalized damage control script to sink it immediately.

So it would appear that the manuals have been saved :)

Except for "Jaws43's" totally false premise that a container of game manuals from China would be routed to the US via the Somali Coast. Why go 2/3rds of the way around the world when you can go 1/3rd? Whenever they ship, the WITP-AE Manuals will appropriately cross the Pacific and catch a train to their final delivery point. That's just common sense. So worry about typhoons, not pirates (and pray the Captains name isn't Halsey).

Sounds like a good way to find out whats on that N. Korean ship heading destination unknown....disguise some special forces teams as pirates and then board it! N. Korea cannot blame anyone that way!

Don't underestimate the economical approach of Matrix Games.
1. Print manuals in China
2. Transport the Manuals with a Dutch Freighter, a Uzbekistan Crew under a Chinese Flag
(Tthat’s why it is a Chinese Freighter)
3. Due this construction they have right on European Union Funds when they sail via the European continent.
(Thats why they passed Somalia)

A (Un)lucky development for Matrix Games is that the “USS Blind Buccaneer” sank the Freighter. This will result in a million dollar compensation from the US Government.

So basically the manuals are printed for free. The only details is… how do we get the manuals.

Alright, I got to admit it was me who hired the gang in order to highjack the chinese freighter. Before it sunk they rescued almost 20k of those precious manuals.

We are willing to give back the cargo, if Matrix releases AE this weekend. Otherwise the pirates are going to feed the fishes with it. Do we have a deal?

I like it when LST posts.

It probably is related to your sig.

You should post more often.

Can we get a giant wall sized poster of that with every copy of AE? Print them in China and put them on a boat if you have to, I don't care.
