If you don't have time you can always break down the map into sections...say, start out with the US West Coast, then go to North Pacific, Hawaii/Midway/Johnston, and on from there, in whatever order you like, doing one section at a time. Just take notes (I prefer doing so on paper so I don't have to constantly alt-tab to WordPad) so when you get to your next session you'll remember what you did, where you transferred those B-17's to, etc.

Of course, this is from the guy with the s-l-o-o-w AAR against the AI so feel free to disregard

far longer than the war took even if you play the AI. In a PBEM its anyone's guess.
If I ever ventured into that kind of a game instead of playing the AI 1 day turns would be about maybe 4 a week. I just like it for the fun even if I can only just stay ahead of the AI Jap and can not play Japan due to my TOTAL LACK OF UNDERSTANDING THE PRODUCTION RULES. Reading all the threads on the subject just made it worse (SIGH)

Right on Lomri

I agree 100%

WITP is definitely the best and most challenging game I have ever played.

As you say the game is a joy to play even if you you never finish it.

I am also in the process of reading Fire in the Sky which adds even more to the game experience.

The thing about this game is and something I love is that it can be almost real time if you find a human opponent so it could go for years. But I am happy playing the AI and I can do several turns a day. But I can also leave it alone for days and come back and jump right in.

If you are looking for instant action forget it, although there are somedays like that. But to play and play and think and think is the best. When a year long goal (game time) is accomplished it is fantastic and a good feeling. Or it can be a disaster and frustrating. I never restart or go back to a saved unless something really bad goes wrong with the game so I live with my mistakes and recover but that is me.

No one can answer your question but the main thing I have found with PacWar (I played for 15 years or so) WITP, and now AE is that the first couple of months are long real time, after that the action picks up the troops start fighting and it becomes a great deal of fun. I always start at Dec 7th so the first months game time are just moving pieces, planning and logistics.

These games in the Pacific are the best High Level Strategic Games ever made as far as I am concerned and I am pushing close to 20 years from the time I bought PACWAR so long ago 1992? 1993? Wonderful games
