Can I borrow some of that endless optimism of yours, Mike? You seem to have enough to spare for everyone in the room.

Any time, Brother Onime. There are things I could complain about but I try to always focus on the positive. I'm a huge believer in the Law of Attraction, and only want to attract the things I want.

Another big part of it is surrounding yourself with positive people, and removing "energy vampires" from your daily life as much as possible. That's why I enjoy hanging out with my Thread Brothers so much.

Think I've found a 1.084 patch bug in the Guad scenario with PP costs.  Only seem to be charged 25% of the listed cost to change HQ of LCU's.

Nah, that's the fall sale discount kicking in.

I knew there was a reasonable explaination!

That's about the best philosophy I've ever heard of Mike. Are you the author? I'm not familar with "the law of attraction"?

What , no windows 95? No commodore 64? That's hardly "old school". More like "middle aged". Pal-d,cobal.fortrane, R-basic on a Univac. That's "old school" you young punk!

I loved Win98 Second Edition, when usb support was added. I still use XP for anything I can. Thinking about wiping my laptop soon and completely reloading it with clean XP. It has been almost 2.5 years since I loaded it initially, after getting it at work. First thing I did was wipe everything that was preloaded off.

I have Atari 800XL and Atari ST emulators running on my laptop.  Does that count as old school, Steve-o?

does it count if i have an Atari 2600 emulator (and a USB port original Atari joystick on order), an Atari 800 emulator, an Apple II emulator and an Amiga emulator?

and speaking of Windows 95....i have an install disk (but no product ID code) I was tempted to install it for giggles but figured Win98SE is the better bet for running those pesky DOS games like Blood. Tried DosBox but when you try to slow things down it makes things too stuttery.

Better to have a powerful SEXY Win98 box with the power of the Pentium 4 behind it!

ooooo.....2D graphics in a 3D game. A simpler time when games didn't require a gagillion mouse clicks to give orders.

(and Carrier Strike looks great in VGA!)

That definately counts.

Man, I'd love to get one of those USB Atari joysticks. Those things were the best, EVER! To this day, I have trouble using any type of "controller" that has more than one stick and one button.

I held on to my vintage Atari 800 (The best friend in high school owned the Vic-20.....precursor to the C64) till the late 90's but eventually had to toss it when all the 5.25 diskettes began to finally go bad. Too much trouble to lug around. I regret it now of course, but then again today's TV's i don't think you can hook em up to any more. Besides which, emulators made it far more convienient.....except in one crucial way.....no joystick!

Now if only i get get one (they sell out faster than they can make em!) i'll be in Atari heaven to which the GF unit cannot understand...she thinks late 90's graphics are ugly enough!

Well I'm your out-of-bounds data point then. I barely socialize with people at all and most of what I attract are bills and telemarketers.

I'm a firm believer that if you aren't spending two hours a day all by yourself insanity is on the way.

I bought my Atari 800, expanded to 48k of RAM , with my first summer's worth of paychecks from my first job. Got a diskette drive for Christmas the next year.

Nah, you fit well into my life plan. Not as an "energy vampire" (you make me laugh all the time ), but as the decoy for all the bills and telemarketers to keep them off my back.

lol.

I bought my first computer with paper boy money....an Atari 400 with a cassette drive (whoa! technology elite-ess!!), but my dad took pity on me and for Xmas got me a sleek black Indus disk drive )5.25 which at the time was like going from an 8088 CPU to a 486 in capabiity. :)

also allowed me to get my first wargames....Tigers in the Snow and Carrier Force by SSI.....and a life of slackerdom was thus ensured.

It had a whopping 16k of memory to begin with but i later upgraded it to 48k and i was on top of the computer world, till the C64 came out. Eventually bought an Atari 800 over the 800XL because i liked the former better.....can be stubborn that way. Best memory: I once told someone in the mid 80's that the IBM 'PC' was doomed and would never outshine the great Atari. heh.......this might explain why i've never won Lotto.

By early 90 i was crusiin with a dad brought home 8088 PC with a big 40MB hard drive and CGA graphics. First "real" computer would be a 486/33SX. Good memories playing "X-wing" on it. and "7th Guest"

Edit: oh yeah.....and for all those whiners complaining about AE's price......i bought SSI's "War in Russia" in 1985-6 for a whopping $80.00 with paper boy money....and boy was it worth every penny.

PPFFFFFFTTHHHPPPPPTTHHHHH!!!! to the "why is it SO expensive crowd"

sheesh.
