I noticed a young man on my train this morning reading a very large book. When I snuck a look at the cover, it turned out to be the "Twilight" novel, "New Moon". What a 20-ish man was doing reading a book for 13-year old girls is unknown...

I read my first book about WW2 - "Jagdgeschwader 27" when I was 9 years old. Both is a little strange

My first book was The American Heritage Picture History of WWII. My friends thought I was weird carrying that huge book to school and reading it on the bus. Got it at Christmas 1978 at age 8.

"Enemy at the Gates" was one of my earlier books. Have no clue how old I was. I try to forget childhood.

Yup, I was 7. We had a den with the walls covered with books and I saw that one. The picture on the cover got me. I had a sister who was 21 at the time and I would sit on her lap and read it. She helped a lot.

Hi all,

The first war book I read was, I think, HMS Ulysses by Alistair McLain...

I must have been around 8 or 9... local library... by the age of 20 I read every single one historic and SF book that was translated to my language from my town libraries...

My first book had a lot of "See Dick run. Run Dick run." in it. I don't remember the title though

I did not start to really read separate history stuff until I was in junior high.

I did love history even in elementary school though.
