I love Sprior's job and am hiring Angelina Jolene to make a hit on him so that i might take his place.

Saw that movie ("Wanted") for the first time the other night. She looks just fine in tight leather. She 'slays' me when I see her...

Indeed.  The early reports seem to indicate that Port-au-Price is nearly gone.

Port-au-Prince (and the rest of the "country") has been a disaster area for 20+ years. The worst place in the Western hemisphere.

Yes, that's very true. But, the very little they had there is now gone.

Don't get me wrong, I feel sorry for the poor bastards, but Haiti was an appalling ****-hole even before this earthquake.

Yes, and most of the problems caused internally.  They have not had a string of what could be called "good" leaders.

Papa and Baby Doc Duvalier, along with their TonTon Macoute death squads, started the whole ball of crap rolling.

Very sad. Some family acquaintances of ours were down there doing humanitarian work and have not been heard from.

Death toll will probably be similar in scope to the Tsunami of several years ago. Three million people, squeezed together in a tiny little bit of geography, with no infrastructure, is a recipe for hundreds of thousands of fatalities.

What pictures I have seen do not look good at all. Does indeed remind me of Sumatra....except that Sumatra had trees.

Imo inferring that Papa and Baby Doc were not good leaders isn't what I'd call a political discussion . . . more a general consensus.

No, not you. I'm referring to Terminus' comments re: the Duvalier lines of 'leadership' in Haiti. Seems to me that what's good for the goose and all that.

It's not politics, it's history. History is what we do here.

I'm afraid I would agree it isn't a political discussion...it was simply a statement of fact.

I'm afraid that I have to agree with Terminus and Mynok. (was that the sound of the earth falling off it's axis?).
But it is history, and you wouldn't consider someone saying something about A. Hitler to be politics , would you.

One point I have to make (as like many of the USN , I've had the "joy" of "humanitarian aid " to that God forgotten island. Although they've just had a tremendous "urban renewal" project started by the earthquake , the spectre of disease is a LOT more dangerous. Talk about your ultimate malarial zone.
