Just got the hardcopy of the game. Matrix outdid themselves, the manual smells like by copies of Bloody Shambles which were printed in India, perhaps the Chinese outsourced

The smell of a book is important threadbrothers, my first editions Two Cities smells like peat. Sadly the binding is broken so it must be read gingerly. "It was the best of times"

Compared to the original, I'd say he's done a "bloody brilliant job". And take it from me, the AI has been tested ALL THE WAY to the end of the war, i.e. into 1946. It's not just for the first 4-6 months.

"Bloody brilliant" is a fair description. The man deserves to be knighted.

Ye gods, man! He's a scot! You want another William Wallace tearing about merry old England again?

Incomprehensible, yes.

I swear, despite a good dose of scots-irish in my blood (over half), I have a devil of a time understanding those folk.

It's easy enough. They're either:
1) Asking for alcohol
2) Asking for money (to buy alcohol)
3) Threatening you (probably for not providing items 1 or 2)

My experience adds another:

4) Offering you alcohol (usually more than you can handle).

Maybe I keep running into a higher class of Scot...

Week end incoming quickly .
A bit anxious about miss gladiatt. She is thinking of her diagnostic (probably coming next week, doubled by a anniversary of a Delirium tremens crisis), so she is anxious, so am i.
But otherwise, things are ok: sun, no boss over me right now, a torp hit by a PT on a jap DD in my loosy PBEM, and a few jokes with collegues at work, so it could really be worse

Recovering from a major bout of flu. I hope that all is well with you and yours? Still interested in another PBEM?

Flu ? like the chicken one or the porc one ? Hope you get well !

No others PBEM right now, thanks and sorry at the same time: Life is going to ask for more time for a few months, even if i would have liked. I think i'll get to AE probably at the beginning of 2010 , then try a bit the AI, and then probably go for a PBEM around summer 2010 ?
But the offer is kind.

Or was sometime thinking of being a crew of a multiple PBEM , so if ever you hear of something like that and want to give it a try with me (or against me ) ??? But it's really a small thinking right now. Could probably know more about my disponibility around october (it's seems a bit long to wait, no??).

Others things good for you ?

I really don't know what kind of flu (my doctor can't see me for at least ten more days, which is an improvement, originally it was 26 days!). I imagine by then it will be gone. My wife (who had a mild case) was able to see her doctor , who tested her and said she had NOT been exposed to swine flu, so I'm guessing that I don't have that. Probably just a case of old fashion flu. Nothing to worry about .

I feel so over whelmed with AE that it will probably be a while before I feel comfortable with a PBEM (except a short one perhaps). I spent nearly a year studying AAR's and going against the AI before I did PBEM's in WPO and then WITP. After Nearly two years of PBEM's (at least a dozen) only now do I consider myself "semi-competant" (although Bobo, Poul and some of my other opponents will laugh themselves hoarse hearing that), and I feel that with that yardstick, AE will take at least 3 years!

But if you do set up a "round Robin" (the crew served PBEM) please keep me in mind. It will do me good to try new ways of getting my head handed to me!

Swine flu, so that's the english name of it, right. Happy you didn't catch this one

"laugh themselves hoarse hearing"...although i seem to understand the meaning of it, it is a very difficult to translate expression

As i told you, if ever you hear of something like that and want me to make a team of incompetent commanders/players, it will be great: i would like to have strategic discussions and talking, leading to abysmal defeat that each could put on the other failure

The JFB fanboi club will not like this:

EDIT: I will say that I didn't like what the IJN did to my transport forces after this though

EDIT 2: After saving and re-running the turn to see what would happen, the IJN waltzed past the PTs the second time and obliterated several transport TFs at Midway. Good job that only the first run through counts

Lying in a den in Bombay
With a slack jaw, and not much to say
I said to the man, "Are you trying to tempt me
Because I come from the land of plenty?"

Oh, you come from the land down under?
Where women glow, and men chunder?
Can you hear, can you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover...
