I need to mosey over there sometime and do the British beer tour. We can get beers from just about everywhere else in the world here.....except Britain. Go figure.

If you are in the Metro DC area we not only have Brit beer , we have several Brit pubs. I found them pretty authentic.

An hour of shuttles will knock it out of them just as fast, and will be developing more useful combat skills.

My fitness training consisted of rope climbing, vaulting and running round a gym. Plus some football, rugby and cross counrty running. All came in very useful when entering the turbo-generator room in ful full firefighting rig and breathing apparatus trying to locate and isolate the after hydraulic plant.

I hate shuttles, especially as the gym at Brize seems to be made of varnished banana peel. I'm all for fitness etc, but the official definition of fitness doesn't always work. We're frequently told that we'll struggle with the heat out east if we're unfit, but I've yet to see a PTI who could manage 4 hours in the afternoon heat hauling refuel hoses and aar gear about. One tried it and cried off after 20 minutes

The only way shuttles develop military skills is if your force is carrying out a series of fast but short retreats

I agree.

Even more disgusting in your subject line.

It's a hell of a lot better than a Budweiser or Miller.

The popular Budweiser brands are swill, for sure...however, Bud does (make/distribute) Michelob Amber Bock and Ultra Amber, which I like a lot, better than Sam Adams, actually.

Bud also has an alternative to Corona called Landshark--really nice on any of the hot summer days we'll be having soon. Supposedly Jimmy Buffett assisted with the development of Landshark. Any Parrotheads out there?

For me, there's nothing better than going to the Rose and Crown pub at Disney World's EPCOT and ordering a Black and Tan or a Golden blend fresh from the tap. Cheers, y'all!

Maneuverability in awkward positions is definitely a military skill....retreating or advancing.

Bet you can't beat laying under an SLBM replacing a limit switch with the North Atlantic x inches below your back through the pressure hull and 16 tons of solid propellant inches from your face.

Possibly not, in no particular order...

Replacing a switch in a VC-10 K3, in the area between the stubwings. There's no floor, just a fuselage stringer on one side and a beam about three feet away where you can just about get your other foot. In the surrounding area are all the fuel, air and hydraulic feeds and the throttle cables. So stepping on anything else is verboten. The addition of Skydrol fumes are the final bonus to the whole situation

Testing a HDU air motor regulator was another fun one. To test the top limit switch we had to disable the lower limit switch, the only way to do that was via a manual switch. The switch was above the motor turbine and the only way to reach it was to jam your head and arm through the tiny gap between the turbine and fuselage. Pull the switch and then bail out quick, cos if the switch doesn't work there's about half a second before the turbine explodes.

Plenty of experience inside various engine cowlings of recently landed jets in the desert, the OAT of 50C+ felt almost cold at times
