Today while researching Urumqi I learned something of vast importance. Who was General Tso of General Tso's chicken? He was a 19th century Chinese general (a contemporary of Custer) that was involved in recapturing Urumqi and Kashgar for the Chinese Empire from a local warlord.

As far as I'm concerned, he is added to my list of war criminals for crimes against chickens along with Colonel Sanders.

I've often wondered how much longer WWII will remain in the public and wargamer conciousness to such a degree as we get more and more into the future. Thank heaven of course we don't have (so far) a "WWIII" to take it's place so that alone will keep it relevent, but as technology and politics change, its inevitable that there will be a growing disconnect.

WWI for example almost seems like it happened on another planet given the type of warfare, the mindset and the attitudes of that period in comparison to today's "MTV generation"

The "MTV generation" has no idea WWI happened.

I work with some Younger people and they have no idea of who fought in ww1 and why its pretty sad

We only are serious about not being serious! What , did we scare you in our discussion of which state government is most corrupt?

i am awfuly ashame, but i really thought there was a serious part (if not the whole) in this talk.
Should never doe this mistake again.
Can i send a few idea about corrupted governement ????? ; (note to myself don't get involved in political debate).
And what about this OLD idea of forming a governement with guys from the Thread. I always asked the minister of free time

Sounds good. Sprior will be minister of silly walks.Dixie can be minister of drawing. T will be minister of no! Yuri can be minister of BLASTING! And I'll be the minister of grumpy old geezers!

No.

Most obvious post ever?

If we can choose . . . I'll take minister of tex-mex and small garden implements . . . I nominate Grollub for minister of snow and hot athletic blond women.

Grollub, this sounds like we may need an educational exchange program. Clearly, as minister of hot athletic blonde women, there will be some overlap (ahem) with bikinis. We should make sure that our respective positions (ahem) are mutually supportive without being redundant.

Sure. I could need some coffee now and then, both to keep me warm after playing with the snow, and to re-energize myself after "administering" all those hot athletic blonde women ...

Hey, Steve, Gladiatt, et. al., got room for the official bikini inspector in this government of yours?

Yes, but Steve models them.

Coffee Minister is sounding pretty good right about now.

crap....i wanted to be minister of silly walks. Guess i'll have to settle Minister of Annoying Posts.

I thought Yuri had that one stitched up a treat?

Now that you mention it, it does fall rather nicely into the Blast category. Stay off my turf Logboy.

Nik could take over the forest ministry. Every serious government needs one of those

Hi all,

quote:

Carlsberg workers strike over beer limits

by BBC

Carlsberg factory workers used to be free to drink throughout the day:

Carlsberg workers in Copenhagen have gone on strike against new rules that restrict the amount of free beer they can consume during their working day.

Regulations brought in at the start of the month stipulate that workers are no longer allowed beer throughout the day, and can now only drink at lunchtime.

Workers claim they were not consulted on the changes, which is why more than 250 have decided to strike in protest.

Carlsberg said it would not be reversing the new policy.

"Carlsberg has pulled something over the heads of the workers. They won't have a dialogue with us," said Michael Christiansen, representing the striking employees.

"We have never had a problem with accidents or anything with alcohol involved."

The strike has affected beer deliveries into the Danish capital as delivery drivers have gone on strike in sympathy with their co-workers.

The strike began on Wednesday.

Just to make it clear, the Carlsberg workers were previously allowed to drink three beers per working day. Now they're allowed to drink at lunch. "Workers are no longer allowed beer throughout the day" should not be read as them having unlimited drinking privileges.

Poorly worded article.

What puzzled me is that they were allowed to drink at all... (whether it is as many as they wish, three beers per day or just one beer during lunch)...

Certainly not in your household.

Look at the bright side. At least you dont live in a country where you are liable to have the police called on you if youre somehow foolish enough to be caught (either in public or in private) administering an object lesson at your child's 5th point of contact (when they need it).

At the risk of sounding insensitive (but not really caring) what's it to me if the Polish president dies in a plane crash? Can't really muster up a sad emoticon for that. Sorry.

That may very well be, but I don't envision this being a 'serious' government. With, you know, responsibilities and all that.
