Hello Carl!

It is already (too) hot... temperatures are bove 25 degrees Centigrade... we will get some heavy rain in next two days (and temperatures will surely drop 5-10 degrees Centigrade)...

How is in UK?

Playing Alpha Protocol. Bit of a disappointment so far, and I expected more from veteran RPG developers Obsidian Entertainment. Oh well...

A question for you grogs. Does anyone know where an inquiring mind might find data on ammo expenditure by RN battlewagons at Calabria?

Warspite fired 17 salvoes. Malaya fired a ranging salvo. Royal Sovereign was out of range.

Thanks Nik. Is there a source for that?

Still doesnt explain what "powered down" actually means. Is that like a restrictor plate, speed limit, a stern warning from a burly crew chief not to scratch the paint, or else...? And didnt he once claim that NO Wildcats were lost to enemy action?

Incidentally, is he saying that Japanese adopted the banzai charge because they couldnt muster the needed firepower to suppress an Allied line?

Not at full speed in other words, and yes....he's implying that all the Japanese knew how to do was Banzai charge whenever the enemy was not either confused or suprised.

I'm glad I resisted the urge to post in that thread.

Throttled back to a more economical engine setting.

So what prevented them from throttling up, adjusting the oxygen mixture and diving for the deck, the poor dears?

Try Engage the Enemy More Closely

Thanks Simon.

Incidentally, I'm reading The Wooden World that you recommended. Says there that in 173? England consumed 5 million gallons of gin. That's probably about a gallon for every man, woman and child....and not taking into account all the other kinds of booze. And they say Russians drank a lot.

Maybe you should have waited for Beta Protocol to come out.

Actually, gin was what was drunk back then. There was a huge social and economic problem with "The Demon Gin" in England back then.
