I didn't throw up but no-one told us what happens when you wash your hair in the shower afterwards.

I helped field the new M-42 Gas Mask for our DIVARTY. In short I spent 40+ hours in the gas chamber while living in the field. When I got released that weekend I washed my uniform in the barracks laundry room. I didn't have many friends that weekend

I haven't got that many injuries to report. Smashed my head on the ceiling of an M113 a couple of times and threw up once during gas chamber drill...

Glad you, Odin, Sprior and Dixie weren't listed as 'ops' losses...

20 years ago, during the military service the young french had to do at this time....
i once was close to become an ops loss because my captain didn't had a perfect ark of sight.
I was to stay quiet in a foxhole, during a drill, hidding from a non-existant Foe, while an armor unit was on the path near us. These were at the time the brand new Leclerc Tank; the path was very narrow. And the Leclerc is...well, a BIG tank. At least, the more closer it come to you, the bigger it seem.
I did ask the captain if i could get out of foxhole wich was just on the side of the path.
The replie was that i had nothing to be affraid, the driver had a clear sight .
Since when a tank driver has a clear sight ???
So one Leclerc get close (and i had to breath the engine gas ).
A second Leclerc get close.
And the third one was clearly no more on the path.
So i decided i was not anymore drilling, running out of foxhole before it was overun. I had a punishment (had to clean wichever room that was dedicated for this on the next evening), but was glad i did so.
20 years after , the main thing i remenber was that a Leclerc is BIG and GREEN

P.S.
Wasn't the Leclerc tank introduced in early 1990's and therefore not yet 20 years old Eric?

As far as i remenber, you are right, but the "upgrade" of unit betwenn AMX 30 and Leclerc was very slow, due to low number of produced tank (think most builded tank were sold to foreign countries before going to french army).
Hence, when i was in the army, the Professional soldiers were really proud of their "new" Leclerc.

A group of Psychiatrists has published a paper suggesting that Anakin/Darth Vader had a borderline personality disorder. http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2010/06/10/study-darth-vader-borderline-personality-disorder/

Gee, he seemed pretty normal to me

I want these shrinks to examine Lucas, after the prequels I wonder how balanced he is

Getting smacked by Ms. Dixie does NOT count as in the line of duty.

I can't agree .
Anything involving wife/girlfriend unit count in the line of duty !!

Yeah? You want a Purple Heart (or your national equivalent) too?

Nice storys @all.

Myself was nearly bruised between a trailer and a wall because my brainless, idiotic comrades pushed this damned thing forward without looking!

All that sounds funny, but you can see how easy you can get hurt/killed even with NO Enemy in sight.

I had a buddy get his leg broken by a track backing during a simulated road ambush. Being a dismount sucks @ss.

Well, there was a reason we weren't told... The people who'd done it before us didn't want us to miss out on the experience...

Surely you didnt do the same to NFGs when you became an NCO.

Theres a reason we call 'em "crunchies" Eric.

If it'll make you feel better, it was standard practice in the Red Army to train green infantry replacements by sticking them in a trench and having a tank "iron" it.

Doing a little reading about the South American naval arms race. I get the distinct feeling that I don't get it. I think there should be a concertina theory of history. Once you touch a subject you realize you don't get it. Then you look deeper and then... The abyss stares back.
