Status: offline 		I've been fighting with this all week to try and run it. I have Windows Vista 32 bit with IE 8 when I click about IE 8 to see if its 32 or 64 bit it says cipher strength: 256 bit. I downloaded , then removed Java because I didn't have success. Will this program run on IE 8?

Thanks for a good looking program, I hope you can help me get it rolling.

Status: offline 		I was hoping to be able to use this program , been messing with downloading different java programs, deleted windows IE8 and went back to windows IE 7, apparently I have Vista 32 bits. I'll just chalk this up as something that doesn't work on my system and end the frustration.

Sorry to come back but I still face problem with Witp staff.

It says that "the application did not start because its configuration side-by-side (litteral translation) is not correct"...

What should I do?

Ok, firstly, I'm not the author of this program, I made Tracker (for witp) with Floyd, just trying to give some assistance ... so maybe Woo's will come by and help sometime, cause I don't know what "side by side" is There is a thread above for dealing with things. The date is probably the date you downloaded the file.

But let's work through this anyway ...
1. What is your OS ?
2. What version of JavaVM do you have?
3. Have you tried to delete the DB folder, and then reinitialised ?
4. Can you run the batch file from DOS mode, to see what errors might occur.
5. ... Are you trying to load a small scenario or grand campaign save ?

"LCU 5013 (GUAM USN) is assigned to a non-existant HQ 0"
"LCU 6332 (1st Middlesex) is assigned to a non-existant HQ 0"
"LCU 6333 (Rifles of Canada) is assigned to a non-existant HQ 0"
"LCU 6334 (Winnipeg Grenadiers) is assigned to a non-existant HQ 0"
"LCU 6335 (102nd RN) is assigned to a non-existant HQ 0"
"LCU 6336 (Hong Kong) is assigned to a non-existant HQ 0"
"LCU 6337 (KOWLOON) is assigned to a non-existant HQ 0"

Couldn't write things to the DB due to java.sql.SQLException: Check constraint violation

Status: offline 		Does it fix itself after one turn?

As the readme of WitpStaff says, WitpAE is sometimes fixing database inconsistencies only during turn execution, so WitpStaff sees them once.

And what comes after "Couldn't write things to the DB due to java.sql.SQLException: Check constraint violation". This shouldn't be caused by the HQs.

BTW, please post such questions in the 'official' thread.

Hi Damian,

1- Vista V6 (32)
2- Java v6 update 14
3- Yes, several times. I also tried with another name folders, and I also reinstalled everything (from Java to AE)
4- [Edit) Tried: and it's the same: I can enter in Witpstaff, but CTD when I load the save files (and nothing else appears on Dos Box) --> No other clue
5- Grand campaign

And I am sure the date is not the date I download the file since I have downloaded it again yesterday, and it has the same date

In addition of all the things already said in this topic, I had to install Vista update SP1 (it could maybe be usefull to someone else)...

I'm not sure it is just the Vista SP1 but an install of "Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package” or vcredist_x86 ... which seems in many cases to fix this bug. This is not a witpstaff error, rather your OS problem.

There are a set of "Microsoft Visual C++ 2005" run time library files that are needed.
They are the 'msvc*80.dll" set which are generally required for a number of window system programs.
The OS patching may have added them if they weren't on the PC.

Status: offline 		I'm getting errors on trying to setup.  WIN XP, so not VISTA issues.  Hot fix loaded and in proper folder.

here are the error messages.

"For unknown reasons C:\Pprogram Files\WITP AE\SCEN\witploadAE.exe failed

and then:

"Cound not read the files necessary for DB installation.
java.io.IOException: Can't read the required file db\WITPtabs.csv"

Any help is appreciated.

1. Close the program.
2. I'd delete any DB folders you have

Status: offline 		I'm also having problems getting witpstaff to run. I get a couple of error messages when either initializing a db or attempting to load a turn file. I'm attaching screen shots of the messages. I'm running Vista Ultimate on a dual 64-bit processor. I've made sure the pws.dll file is in the proper sub-directory and have installed the hotfix. I'm playing the full campaign, using the Dec 7th historical option, and my latest save file is for Dec. 8, 1941. Any help you could give wwill be greatly appreciated.

Enter the tools folder, then the witpStaff folder and click on the witpdecoder2.jar file....

...this is a known issue for those of us with x64 Vista....the .bat file doesn't work with x64 Vista.

If you did, what all others did who got this message, you specifed a non-existing scenario.
There is BTW a file called witpdecoder.log in WitpStaff's directory which contains all the error messages in ASCII so no one is forced to post pictures of his desktop.
