Big thanks for all your efforts so far as well as the forthcoming scenarios..really looking forward to seeing them running in AE
Certainly the idea of a altWNT Guadalcanal scenario as you described sounds very interesting indeed..and im sure everyone else would pass on their appreciation of all the hard work and effort thats been put into current as well as future work

I second to 51st Highland Div, your work is much appreciated and a Philippines and/or Guadalcanal scenario is more than welcome! Just imagine a batlle in 1944 with all the shiny toys :D.

What do you plan for the enhanced Bb and CV variants?

BTW I have a WT mod based on yours in the brewing, sort of like a super-enhanced BB mod (but with a lot of CVs).

Anyways can't wait to grab your mod :D

The Enhanced variants are sort of like Scenario 2, in that they assume Japan prepared better for the war.

The main things this means is;
-More and better pilots
-Better AA
-Earlier Radar
-More local Oil production
-Earlier late-war aircraft
-Slightly larger resource/oil stockpiles

I may also add some ground units like Scen 2 does, I dont know for sure yet. Or I may just improve the quality of current late war squads, to represent better AT weapons and the like.

csatahajos, when you do start working on that, if you want me to provide the spreadsheets and other tools I used for design I'd be more than happy to do so. That way any ships you add will fall within the same parameters as the rest in the mod.

a20h has 12.7mm rear cannon. Should be 0.5in?

Thanks for the corrections ggm - have been included for version 6.

I've finished work on converting the Japanese OOB over, time for the allied one.

PS: 440mb downloaded.

Hi JuanG,

seeing how you are the only modder currently making any public mods, will you be adding any ships like in chs or rhs like junks, sloops, and river barges?

I admit to never having played RHS, so I dont know exactly what they added.

I assume you basically mean small craft for coastal and river trade?

Is there any real purpose for these that cant be done via AKLs and Barges?

As I havent done art for a while, here is the Katori class CLAA due in 42/43;

CLAA Katori Class - Katori, Kashima, Kashii, Kashiwara
Standard Displacement 7800tons

Manuever 44
Range 8500nm (1620tons fuel)

JuanG here are some examples of small crafts from chs and rhs
I suppose they mostly add flavour to mods. They really arnt necessery and probably just add to micromanagement.
El Cid from rhs used a modified map file (pwhex) which allowed ships to move up and down rivers in burma india and china. they allowed players to move small amounts of supplies to inland ports.

Hey,

Sorry for lack of updates - doing my best to get this done.

Got delayed a little due to a decision to clean up the IJN DD/E/APD ships before starting on the allied ones, as I felt they were a mess.

Plan is to have a 'beta' release as soon as I'm done with CL upwards for the allies, and then polish it and get a full version out later once I've done the same sort of cleanup to the allied small craft - and there is a LOT of those!

ggm;
Thanks for the corrections once more. I found a few more of my own - these are all fixed now.

I will probably not include small ships like you asked earlier, atleast not initially.

AE already has river movement for small ships, so you can move supplies in China this way already. I dont know if these Chinese have any ships to do so with to be honest - In that case I may add a few.

Working as fast as I can guys - I suppose I should apologize for underestimating the time it would take to finish it after the patch.

The IJN side is complete, and I've finished the USN BB and CV forces. What remains are the USN CA/CLs, and the RN.

It will probably be out by this weekend - I will certainly try my best for that.

csatahajos (and others in this thread); If you want to have a look at what the complete IJN side looks like ingame, let me know and I'll email you the WIP version (tagged as Scen 32).

Hi Juan,

of course no need to apologize! If we waited years for AE then this is walk in the park.

Yes, if possible I'd be greatly interested to have a look at it. I'll PM you my e-mail in case you don't have it.

Many thanks!

Hey guys.

Apologies for vanishing - I moved to a new flat last week and of course it turned into a real mess. So I really havent had time to focus on this.

The good news is Im practically finished. There are only two key things I need to get done before that;
-Adjust the allied airgroups to match the new carriers
-Artwork for De Zeven Provincien class

For the latter, if anyone has any good drawings or even artwork for old WitP of this ship, please send it to me or post it here, as it would really make things easier.

Juan

v6 Released - BB Variant Out - 10/7/2009 5:06:53 AM

Well, finally its done - the BB variant is out.
Thanks to everyone for their contributions and comments.

I hope you all enjoy playing this - it should be pretty functional vs the AI, although there are some things that will not happen when playing the AI, mainly ship conversions;
-USN BBs will not rebuild
-IJN CS->CVL conversions
-IJN CA AA or Hybrid conversions
-IJN DD AA upgrades (X turret removals)

I will release an 'AI friendly' versions of this scenario at some point, which will address these issues but also limit player options in PBEM somewhat.

The next priority will probably be the Enhanced BB Variant, followed by CV Variant.

Please leave any feedback or bug reports here or in my email.

PS: If anyone wants a PBEM game, drop me a PM!

As agreed I'm definitely in for that PBEM ;), just give me one-two days to prepare.

Cheers and big kudos to make this happen!

csatahajos caught two bugs, one of them pretty serious..

-New Orleans class ships were incorrectly listed as Northampton class
-Harima airgroup was assigned to Tosa

New version 6b up with these errors corrected. These errors only affected Scenario 42.

Incase anyone is considering this for PBEM, here the set of HR's I'd suggest (In addition to the two in the Scenario text);
-Allies can only form TFs offmap or on the West Coast
-Allies can not change orders or move any air units or TFs
-Allies can however change orders for the three US CV groups, Force Z and X, and the Dutch BC TF

-Japanese limited to 2 BB or CVL conversions at any time.
-Japanese limited to 4 CVE/CA conversions at any time.
-Japanese will withdraw KB from Hawaii by Dec 8th at the lastest (ie 1 day of strike)

In addition, a few general ones would be good, to keep LCUs where there supposed to be;
-No moving Kwangtung LCUs into China without paying PPs
-No moving Chinese LCUs into Manchuria (Japan) or Burma (Allies) without paying PPs
-No moving Thai LCUs into areas other than Thailand, Indochina, and Malaya.

Juan, there are certain hidden, hard coded, tricks involved in converting/upgrading any type of ship to any type of CV. There are also (patch) things happening with respect to shipyard size requirements for certain, specific upgrades, to certain, specific ship types. If these are important to you, shoot me a pm, and I'll tell what I can.

Looking forward to see these mods being completed. Hopefully, they will be done about the same time the second patch comes out by the end of the month (hint, hint ). My first adventure into PBEM with WITP was with Iron Storm. I like "what if" mods that are relatively realistic. The more carnage, the better.

Thanks for the enthusiasm guys. I make no promises on when the CV version will be out, but I'll do my best to put up some ship lists and other stuff ASAP.

Another updated version 6 is out. Again this only affects Scenario 42.

Version 6c
-Removed Force Z movement orders on Turn 1
-Removed damage from DD Encounter, DD Jupiter in Force X
-Corrected AA Guns for BB Harima (25mm Singles were all facing F)
-Changed Aircraft availability dates slightly (F4F-4 one month later, F2F-3, F4F-3A, B-26B available longer)
-Added one G3M2 Nell group to IJN (based at Tokyo, available 12/41 - 1/43)
-Modified one latewar FP group to arrive with M6A Seiran
-Modified several latewar FP groups to allow upgrade to E16/M6A

The Force Z/X changes were meant to be in v6b, but I forgot about them. The others were intended for v7, but I included them now as I had them worked out already.
