I only have 512mb of RAM with a 3.0GH processor. In what ways will game play be affected?

Depending on your OS, things may just take longer to load or they may also run a bit slower. Your fast processor will help make up for the lower memory. If you have a decent hard drive too that will help. You should be fine.

Thank you so very much for your response Erik. I'll be purchasing just as soon as I can do some creative budgeting (rationalizing).

If you want to run the game with 512 MB of RAM, you'll probably have to make sure you have a fairly lean installation of Windows.  Turn off everything you can to save memory.  Depending on which version of Windows you're running, it will take a different amount of RAM just for the operating system.  You might not have enough left over.  Older versions of Windows use less RAM than newer ones.

I know some laptops are very RAM constricted, but getting another 512 MB for a desk top would be fairly cheap.  I would recommend upgrading your RAM if you can.  The game will run much smoother and faster with 1 GB of RAM than with 512 MB.

I have it running with no problem at an exactely similar system (my rather dated dell desktop)
And while I am waiting for my two 1 GB sticks for upgrade to arrive, it wouldn´t be necessary to upgrade for AE.
