After you made changes to the aircraft type how do you change the airgroups??

As long as you didn't move the aircraft from the editor slot it was already in, you shouldn't have to change anything under airgroups. At least as I understand it.

Tools. Select Air Group. Change nationality, type (all is at bottom of selction list). Check Update weapons. Click Apply.

Yes, this is a godsend.

The same goes for the similar feature for ships.

I shuddered to think I would have to go through every USN destroyer if I added some armour to a turret or something...
