Hi guys. I have read all of Clancy's books and have never been able to find anything equal. I absolutley loved "Red Storm Rising" and would love to find something similar. I really enjoyed the armor battles. I trying to find something similar. I appreciate the suggestions, keep em coming :)
If you liked "Red Storm Rising", you will like "Red Army" By Ralph Peters. Interesting thing in that book is that it's written completely from the Russian point of view.

If you want Special Ops stuff, read the "Rogue Warrior" series by
Richard Marcinko. This is definetly not "PC".

:D I recommend reading the "Hammer's Slammers", (far future mercs in an ArmCav type unit) series by David Drake. "The General" (career of a general trying to unify a planet after downfall of civalization) series by S.M. Stirling & David Drake. "Belisarius" (alternate history of bzyantine empire) series by Eric Flint & David Drake. "Honor Harrington" (space warfare on a grand scale) Series by David Weber. Vorkosigan (main characters come from a quasi militaristic planet) series by Lois McMaster Bujold, great books. A Hymn Berfore Battle (first in a series) by John Ringo, about alien invasion, set in near future.

:D And if your intrested in alternate history the series by Harry Turrtledove is also good. The premise is that the South won the Civil War and that the Union had two more wars, one circa 1888 and the second WWI in North America. Guess who was part of which alliance?

:D You can find sample chapters for most of these books at:
