was doing a test run

planning on being tricky, and catching the RAF with there pants down

so start out with a raid on Dover, with some sweeps to either side, then the main raids, followed up with my damage raids

but, something seems to be wrong with my LW

and 2 of those kills are from away from the raids under attack !!!!

3 sweeps (Free Hunts) by JG 26, only a few of them make it to the patrol zone they are assigned to

JG 2 and JG 53 are my scorers so far, funny, got 2 guy with doubles !!!

2 raids have made it to there target and knocked them out, that Fatman is going to have a fit when the reports go to HQ

only a third of the RAF is in the air

major and I mean Major blunders

those are heavy losses, Flinger II will be shut down for a while, while the 111's regroup

make a mistake, and you will pay !

end of day light, and the raids are home, over all, bombing was decent to good, only one major screw up, first raid nailed a good shipyard, and the following raid, followed it in, instead of hitting it's target (bombers will do that at times, see fire, and want to help out)

losses are way too heavy

KG 53 took it on the chin, along with the escourt that was out with it and the two flanking sweeps

ran them right into the teeth of the RAF defence, idea was to get in and get out, and have the RAF chase, and then be out of place for the follow up raids, got to get in, to get out, ran into a buzzsaw this time around

but all is not doom and gloom, my night raiders hit something and hit something big and importent, now, if only I knew what it was ! (4 raids all hit at the same time)

so, at least there is some silver to that cloud of tears pouring out of the KG bases this day, we can spent the next day, hugging the coast, picking off ports and RAF fighters, while the recon boys find out what damage was really done

(just in case, I think I shut down the RailRoad at Birmingham, that looks like a Major RR hit, to get that kind of SD damage)

I am kind of talked out, so it is HARD for me to come up with things to talk about, if there are any areas or questions, it is much easier for me/us to respond then to think of it ourselfs

so...

Dude...
Take a break... I'm certain you will get lots of comments/questions when it releases.

I quess we could ask "that question", again, and again, again, again, ...

In truth, right now I'm curious about the install -- will it run under Vista 64/Sys 7 (?) -- and configurations possible. I want to put "everything" on a SSD drive/thumb drive. How much video display control is there during the turn? Can it run in a window? etc.

it runs great on my Vista 64, don't know about 7 (in fact, runs better on my laptop then on my big fancy desktop)

for the thumbdrive, what kind of transfer rate does that have ? that is the only hold up, I can see

during testing, I was able to set up the Exe to Window mode with what Gary was sending me, never tried with Harley's stuff (window mode drives me nuts, so I try to stay away from it :)

sorry for the delay, work got in the way, got the weekend off (along with next week !!!!)

day two

as I was saying, after day one, going to go for a lesser action and try to pick up info, and kill RAF

ahhhhhh

I am about 600 planes down, so got lots of damaged planes being repaired, so that hurts any kind of total planning

set up some nasty traps

and...

the RAF is late taking off !

so much for my traps, 200 fighters on a sweep, and nothing in the area they should of been (had hoped to slip the sweep in behind the RAF lines, and catch some as they broke off, and headed for home)

got 5 good JG's on sweeps also, JG 26 got some kills, but the late RAF take off, throws all of the timeing way off

screwed up on my recon, forgot to check the main target (got side tracked, knew I was going to attack it, so didn't need recon, but I am attacking it at night, so no info will be coming back, when things go wrong, they go wrong

raids on the way, you can see the late take off, and my sweeps are in the air already, only one RAF squadron broke off to mess with the mass sweep

Question or you can point me to a thread. In BTR, any tips on what are the best altitudes to use for the various aircraft? Escorts and bombers is what I'm refering to. Also, can you pull off a low level Ploesti refinery style raid and get away with it?

Alt is tricky

some fighters work better at low, other at high

but over all, bombers do worse hitting the target, the higher they are (but, US Heavies have the Norden, so they get a bonus)

yes, you can pull off low level attacks, get away with it ? depends on what is going on, if it gets caught, it is not going to fair well, but if it can get in before the defender react ???

of course, the lower you are, the more light/med AA can have a effect

the hassle is fighters, they do best when bouncing there target, maybe around 80-20, something good is going to happen, when fighters attack, it tends to be more 50-50 something good will happen, so as in real life, Alt is life for a fighter (just in case, for fighters, you have two types of attacks, Bounce, or attack, hassle is, Bounce is more like a stalk, you are waiting for the best postion, best chance, so take your time, the Attack, on the other hand, just rushes in like a bull)

okay score is climbing

got another 2 points this day, also did well in closing the losses ratios, even got 14 of them Spit V's (those are worth there weight in gold)

overall plan is working well, so time to reinforce victory

JG 2 has moved over to JD 2 (so will have another JG for the main fighter battles)

Flinger IV is being locked in as a Night bomber command

Flinger V will be for daylight, with JG 27 and 53 for protection

part of Flinger VIII will stay in place for now, those Stuka's are the do or die option (they will knocked out any target, but will pay doing so)

the IT bombers are also locked into the Night Command, leaving there fighters for sweeps, tricky, since they match up well with the Cane I, only, the RAF pretty much stopped flying that months ago

that leaves Luft 5, still not sure what to do with the boys in Norway, overall, the idea is to keep them in place to keep the RAF honest, but, they do not do much damage at night, and can be hurt bad during the day if they get caught

well, of course, that snap is a little before what I am talking about, but the IT's get to have some fun today (so far)

the other side of the kannal

got to keep the RAF honest

the more they have to defend, or think they have to defend, the weaker they are elsewheres

Arrrghh!

This is my favorite part! It would be nice to see a vid of the next few minutes of game time.

The backdoor sweepers have just caught up with the RTB fighters.
Looks like good strategy/tactics/timing! -- 'cause we all know that luck has nothing to do with it, right?

HS;

You just keep giving me the "correct answers" everytime. I'll be playing on a laptop.
The plan is to stick the game on an Express SSD.
I enjoy hearing the music, but my CD drive gave-up-the-ghost on the old computer.
What I would like with the window mode, is having a concurrent spreadsheet showing intell I discovered about various targets. ie, what type of AA guns!
