So I've played about a week and a half worth of turns and have seen some carnage. Seems like shipping is a lot more vulnerable than in WitP. Two examples (One I have a combat report for, and the other I don't).


When playing around experimenting with turn 1 I managed to get Enterprise TF too close to KB which was falling back from PH. Not one ship in the task force survived the initial strike. WOW! I never saw anything like it in WitP, I put a hurting on things for sure, but this was a slaughter.

Second, playing around the SRA, I had the Asiatic Fleet (Houston, Marblehead, plus DD screen) charge at Kuching in a bad weather turn. Here's what transpired:

Plus, you met the death star, aka 'Boise'. Even though she didn't shoot much in this engagement, she emits damaging rays, paralyzing all Japanese units within five hex vicinity. After such encounter, Japanese sailors usually only remember seeing a bright flashing light, and nothing that could explain what happened to all their comrades who perished.

Heh, this wasn't a complaint, I'm the attacker, blame the AI for the lack of escorts. I'm just really happy that in AE you can really punish a poorly formed task force like you never could in WitP.
