In case you are wondering why I have Nates covering the battleships, I have very little airpower up here. South Sakhalin Island only has two level one bases. I have brought in two small base units but they can only support one air unit each and I am trying to build the bases up as fast as possible. One of the convoys east of Okha that keeps getting attacked is bringing a pair of base units to Okha, which has a level 3 airfield.

You can also note that I am getting no intel on the enemy bases since I lack a means to fly recon up here. I an considering moving a seaplane tender up here to fly recon missions but I worry about it's vulnerability to air strikes given the lack of fighter support.

Now you can understand why I have the KB enroute to help with the airpower problem.

Meanwhile, back to the continuing attacks....

With all the bombing going on I know how the British felt during the Falklands invasion back in 1982....

I continued pounding Vlad port.

The trick is to assign no more than one squadron to a target from the same airfield. If you do, often only one unit will fly. Therefore, if I have two units at one airfield doing night bombing, I will assign each unit to a different target hex. That way both will fly missions.

I flew a daylight Nell/Betty raid on Vladivostok and went in unopposed. I guess that he had all his fighters on night cap.
I hope the fighter pilots lost their rest by having to scramble into air raid shelters.

He attacked back also with a bombardment attack.

Note that I didn't list the units involved because there are over 100 units from both sides involved in the combat and the list would be over a page long...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ground combat at Voroshilov (112,45)

Allied Bombardment attack

Attacking force 73829 troops, 1575 guns, 995 vehicles, Assault Value = 2291

Defending force 111106 troops, 1218 guns, 1305 vehicles, Assault Value = 2288

Japanese ground losses:
1320 casualties reported
Squads: 6 destroyed, 29 disabled
Non Combat: 20 destroyed, 87 disabled
Engineers: 0 destroyed, 11 disabled
Guns lost 97 (21 destroyed, 76 disabled)
Vehicles lost 189 (36 destroyed, 153 disabled)

Allied ground losses:
4 casualties reported
Squads: 0 destroyed, 1 disabled
Non Combat: 0 destroyed, 0 disabled
Engineers: 0 destroyed, 0 disabled

I lost 21 tubes, but my losses were far lower than what I inflicted on him. I am convinced that this is because I put several units into reserve last turn to prevent them from taking bombardment casualties.
