I noticed that the 214 was in the reinforcements with corsairs, however, Gregory Boyington wasn't listed as the Commander. I'm not sure the history, perhaps another commander was in place before he was? Just curious. I thought he formed that squadron? Perhaps he may have taken the 214 squadron OOB from a previous or paper squadron not yet formed???

Nice to see how many actually ask for the Black Sheep. Anybody remembering the TV series? Watched it all the time :D

In France, this TV serie was called "Les têtes brulées" and I really enjoyed it the sunday afternoon ... waiting for another zero to be downed by Pappy Boyington :p

Thanks for the heads up Spooky. He is one of my personal favorites. Reading his book is very enlightening as well.

I have Pappy's autograph on a book about Corsairs. I met him at an airshow in California in the late 70's.

I still watch Black Sheep Squadron on the History channel. They have interviews with actual members from the 214th.

I just noticed that this is my 214th post.
