So I'm playing the 2009 season with the default MLB template. While looking at a PSPN issue, I glanced at the Moonshots report and this guy at the top stood out; Shawn Riggans with Tampa Bay.

His home run was 561', the next up was only 483' by Jim Thome. Not associating Riggans with power, I open up his player card and WHAM: POW ranking = 100. Really? This guy? His CON is 35, his Eye is 5. How'd he get 100 POW? Well... I look at the 'Real Life Stats' tab. Could this be some unknown power machine that's slipped my baseball knowledge? Check out his HR total for 2009:

I don't know if it's Puresim's error in importing or if it's the database it's pulling from that's wrong, but SOMETHING is definitely wrong. I think I would have heard of this kid if he hit that many longballs.

Just sharing.

EDIT: Note also how his G, R, H, HR and RBI totals are all 87. That's too much of a coincidence.

2009 players are completely experimental and not really "official" until the season is over, so yea, there will be some anomalies.

Pretty sure I saw the part in the latest update where it was stated that 2009 stats were based upon essentially their pace, at the time of computation...so it is likely this guy had played in 4 or 5 games, and had gotten a good start of 4 or 5 HRs, and not many other hits, and struck out a large chunk.

MLB.Com shows that he has had five at bats this season and gotten one hit, which was a dinger.
200 Batting Average, 800 Slugging.
http://mlb.mlb.com/team/player.jsp?player_id=457493

Reminds me of Rob Deer who used to get more HRs than singles. He didn't hit 'em often, but he hit 'em far.

That is funny you mention that: he had only 87 hits (all HR's). It gets better: they were all solo shots (87 RBI).

Riggans, not Deer, right ?
Take a peek at the screen shot at the start of this thread and at Riggans's stats on the link I posted. The ratio of dingers to at bats is close to real life 1:5. Nice average. On his Puresim player card, he has one hit every four at bats, but again, they're all in the stands. The guy doesn't connect often, but he is consist when he does.
Looks like the game extrapolates the sample in the current/incomplete season. It's a valid way to go, but small samples end up strange.
