Is it possible to train your carrier groups on board while beeing dispanded in port? What is the best training mission for the fighter groups?

Air groups flew to a land base when a carrier anchored in port.

They should train with training mission even when on carrier (I think this sort of simulates real practice hervin outlined). Training - Escort is good for fighters, trains overall exp and air skill. If you want multitude of other skills to be trained too (like defensive skill), user Training - General training.

Word of caution, in WitP, transferring CV air units to land did sometimes lead to problems when trying to get them back.

Is that something you do manually????? I got two carriers disbanded for long repairs and can´t find their air units on map, only saw for one of them when it became heavy damaged and the flying deck closed, but as soon at it hit the port and I delivered the air units over there they dissapeared

I understand stock has some problems here, but you need to be able to do this in AE. USN air groups moved from carrier to carrier, and eventually IJN air groups did, too.

Yes , it can be done manually, I have done it myself to use airgrops when the original owner has a "planned retreat" , and allways do it for RN CVs that I have to withdraw to at least retain the planes (can be gamey ,I know).

You can train them while having them on your CV, but you will have to be out in the sea, not in the base, which means not in coastal hex.

When in port you can manually transfer them to land and operate them as any other land based squadron. Note that once in a while, for reasons unknown (bug), they will change their HQ from Independent to some other local HQ. And since you will probably have your CV out of harms way that will mean they are way back home in range of some restricted HQ so your squadrons will not be able to get back on CV until you pay PP for them. And even then, they can never be Independent command again.

This is old WITP bug, carried over to AE.

Michael fixed that problem. Offloading carrier units works now. In fact, you get extras so you can cycle them out as was done historically.

If you didn't take the air units off the ship, they are still there. You can transfer them to the base while under repair. Go to the ship list for the base, click on the "show ships under repair" button (not "manage ships under repair"). Select the carrier and then the air units on the carrier. Finally transfer the units to the base.

Since the ship is disbanded, the planes will transfer damaged like when you offload them from an AK, but they will repair quickly. The ground crews just need to move them from the dock to the airfield.

You can then set the planes to train and they will train while the carrier repairs.

If you have squadrons on other carriers in the area that are beaten up and need to be trained up and good experience on the now shore based units, you can swap them out and put the experienced units on the operational CVs.

Note that carrier capable units can become "carrier trained" over time when stationed on a carrier. On the first turn of my PBEM I tranferred Ku-S-1 (45 Zeros) onto Ryujo. A couple of months later I got a note in the Ops report that they had become "carrier trained".

Here they are.

I had one unit in Wienie Roasting that I believed to be trained in a few days after being on the carrier.

It will be great (ansd reduce nano-managment)if damaged carrier unable to carry air operations dock/disband at port and his airgroups are automaticaly tranfered to land base (for this can be switch) and they are automaticaly put bac on carrier once his can commence air operations or is set to TF for leaving port (you simply send CV to port for emergency repairs to prevent sinking at sea and then send him to bigger port for beging fully repaired/again operational).

Any chance for having this adden in future patch ?
