How do you tell players to play at a new position so they can learn it?

Is there a way to get relievers to become starters, if they have enough endurance?

I've always wondered about this: Why do most player contract demands increase as the years increase. Seems like most players would accept more money to have a longer guaranteed contract.

Also, are will the player contracts be longer at any time? Players are signing 6-10 year contracts now.

If you manage your games, you can simply play the player at the position you want him to learn.  It will take time, but he'll eventually increase his range and hands rating at that position.  Otherwise, I think the only thing you can do is go into his player card and change the primary and secondary position on the card.

Sorry, should've been more clear.

I meant how do you tell minor leaguers to learn a new position.

The only way I have found to do it is to change the player card.  I have done it a couple of times.  There is still a learning curve but at least the change sticks.

Editing a player's primary/secondary positions can be useful if you have an overload in the minors. Say, for example, you have two outstanding LF in AAA, but no RF. Well, simply edit one of the LF's primary positions to RF. There ya go. Personally, I'd be more reluctant to change an infielder's position, but that, too, can be done. Take, for example, Jackie Robinson. In 1947, he played 1B. In 1948, he shifted to 2B. I'm pretty sure this has to be done by editing his card to primary pos 2B, secondary pos 1B, as I don't think the between-season changeover will automatically switch him.
