I don't know if it has been suggested before.
Two filter buttons which remove either day fighters from the intercept/patrol selection or night fighters. During the day I can remove the night fighters from the selection and during the night I could press the other button to remove the day fighters from the selection.

How about more colors for the plotted missions

say a color for Sweeps

Recon

Intruders

Great idea!
You could use a e.g. a light red for inbound route for Bomber raid, dark red for outbound route. For recon, e.g. a light green for inbound and dark green for outbound and so on for other missions type.
I think it will be clearer to understand.

Bye

Could it be possible to add, in the unit details screen, a badge or insignia of the unit(like in WITPAE apparenly). I could get some of them, in high quality...

It has probabily been suggested already, but I a text report with turn results (engagement and air losses) would be great. Like WITP combat reports for example.
Also, an "export to CSV" button for air losses and campaing summary screen would be nice: when you press it, the data are exported to a CSV file, easy to import in excel (great for traking your battle).
Great game anyway!

As HS says, it's the only way the Luftwaffe player can win. The ground war will overrun Germany no matter what if the Allied players just avoid a sudden death loss. Gaining 2 points per month is no big deal for a human Allied player, but in tests I have run the Allied AI cannot maintain this rate and usually loses in November 1943 because the bad weather prevents it from flying.

One idea here.

I'm playing germany in 43 GC. I much prefer the lines and boxes to illustrate raids but if using the plane pics you get much more info on attacking a/c types. would it be possible to add this info into the mouse over pop up box too ?

IE 30xfighter (P51B) etc. But ofc only when actually spotted.

In no particular order

1) Combat reports, or flash the messages on the turn replay if my raids are delayed/cancelled/whatever.
2) A toggle to allow/prevent my fighters strafing enemy airfields and railyards. Going further, an option to allow a single pass against a target and go home.
3) The ability to turn auto upgrades on/off.
4) An indication when a unit is due to upgrade.
5) Info on when new types will arrive on the aircraft pool before they arrive.
6) Info on an aircraft's optimum altitude. I know that a Spit LFV works best below 15k, but not everyone knows that, and I've got only a sketchy idea of Axis aircraft (especially Italian types). Something like the info in WitP.
7) Different route and bombing altitudes/waypoints.
8) Make it harder to bounce fighters at 48k+ altitude.
9) Allow BC to fly daylight raids, with escorts from either FC or 2TAF. Particularly during the Overlord phase.
10) Add the ability to move squadrons between seperate commands. (Allies in BTR) Within reason, no moving Lancasters to Fighter Command for example, maybe restrict it to certain types etc.
11) Stop auto-plotted recce missions from going in at 500 feet.
12) Something to make tactical fighters more useful, LF Spits etc.
13) FB/Jabos feel a little to vulnerable. They're far better than they used to be, but it's still a slaughter more often than not when they're attacked.
14) It's maybe too easy to find and attack low level raids.

Some of those are probably harder than I think, because programming is always easy unless you're doing it Maybe some stuff for BoB/BTR2

i suggest the following :

When you select "Intercept" , you are going to select a raid on the map. OK by that.

once you clicked on the raid you like to intercept, you get on the lower third of the screen a list whith air units aviable.

I just whish that on the top of the screen where the map is, a coursor is shown where the location of the selected group is.

in the list, range is shown, which is good, but even more important is the direction (bearing) to the incercepting raid from the view of the interceptor. It is much more difficult to intercept if you are flying behind a raid or if you can intercepting it if it comes your way up.

just put a cursor on the map if I select a squadron for interception. then I know the best possible intercepting squadron.

Hi All,

Having read most of this thread I would like to add votes for the inclusion of the following in any future patch. If you get the time :)

1. (Within reason) The ability to alter height from one waypoint to the next, maybe limited by aircraft max rate of climb.
2. The ability to save a 'template' of raids for use on subsequent days (I'm getting a bit cheesed off plotting those same old recons day after day).
3. The option of moving multiple units from one base to the next at the same time.
4. Being able to cancel an individual raid, maybe up to an hour or so before take-off.
5. The option of turning fighter-sweep ground and balloon strafing off.
6. Message Log.

Having these extra bits and bobs would add a bit of polish but if the game was left exactly as it is, it would still be a great game. I think I'll be playing it for a long time to come. Maybe even as long as CM and HoI :)

I would suggest a new mission be added to the LW commands for air units. Specifically a straggler intercept mission. I would envision this working as a ground radar controlled series of intercepts of stragglers. You would launch a unit, say a stab unit, to intercept a straggler ID with one bomber. If it destroys the bomber then instead of going into patrol mode as it does now. It would be vectored to the next closest bomber straggler raid to its location.

Currently I am doing this approach manually as units assigned to destroy stragglers go into patrol mode. It is a exceedingly effective method of picking up those extra kills to really drive down Allied moral.

Also I am finding that units are going into patrol mode in bunches while the main raid they were assigned to intercept is still heading to the target. Some a few miles away, some while still hundred miles away without ever having engaged the raid they were assigned to intercept. This becomes incredibly annoying as you have to each pulse monitor who has selected patrol mode and where they are. Seems to happen way to often with no rhyme or reason to it. Especially when they haven't even engaged the raid they were assigned to hit.

1) Make fighters at least lose their altitude to near-deck when they attack planes that are in their landing pattern. Flakmen would like to be able to shoot them, too...

2) If first one was old, how about giving the units switching to a new plane a type conversion time. Each time a unit would switch to an aircraft type they hadnt flown before, they would need for the very least a few days of getting used to their new rides. For both Axis and Allies. For example, Fw 190s in one "block", Fw190A8/R7 in one, most 109s in one, 109H alone, G10 and K4 in one, Spitfire Vs and VIs, XI and VIII, XIVs and VII, P-51s and Mustangs, P-47s, P-38s, etc. Bombers and heavy fighters as well as nightfighters of all types could have greater conversion times. Perhaps heavy bombers even more... Or when converting from 110/210/410 to sigle engined fighters. If possible, the converting unit could have 0 planes for that time to simulate training taking part at Bremen(or somewhere else), or just one shwarm for the time.

What do you think?

I would like to have the option to switch heavy fighter squadrons, JU88C-A6 and ME410's, to FW190F's if i wish to. Their armour rating of 2 makes them harder to kill.

Not sure if this stuff was already mentioned:

1. Pilots should suffer a experience drop if you switch airplane types.

2. It should take a few days longer if you change aircraft types (not just 1-2 days).

3. Gruppen with Jets should be "downgradable" again.

4. Make it optional if you wish to use the JG300,301,302 as day- or nightfighters instead to be forced to wait for the autoupgrade (what doesnt work with the current version anyway but will be fixed with the next patch i guess).

5. Remove those hidden axis autoproduction of the 109s if the axis side has a human player.

6. Repairing a aircraft should need parts and engines (not always, but kinda random or somewhat).

7. Beeing able to rename your units.

Yepp. Its broken. Seems the required Rüstsatz Version is the problem since you cant get them into the pool. But Harley and HS are working on the problem iirc.

They do not upgrade the way you think they should (and as they did in RL).........you may build a trillion Fw190A8 and nothing will happen...the same for the G10/14

It would be great if you could make the production function more user friendly. Right now the endless scrolling from the top and trying to find that one factory remaining to convert to what you want is really tedious and frustrating. Wouldn't it be possible to just enter a fighter,"ME-109", then have a screen come up showing all the factories in what ever capacity that produce that fighter and its associated components. Then be able to work down the list on that screen to make changes instead of having to go back to the main screen and start all over to search for the next component or assembly line that you want to alter.

- bug: Two of my divisions in Italy have been at 94 disruption for months. they do not seem to recover, nor do they seem to receive higher disruption.

- bug: sometimes 'red' (allied) groups almost fly back to the launch point, then turn around, fly back into axis airspace and then turn again and land normally. This odd behaviour makes no sense.
Similar issue: I recently screenshotted a German patrol over England in '44.

- bug: sometimes scattered interceptors are suddenly assigned to very, very far away targets for a few minutes (such as fighters over Romania suddenly chasing bombers over Hamburg)

- bug: very often when I click on several stacked boxed in the"intercept" context I get an empty list. Back, click again - full list. This happens almsot always on my machine.

- possible glitch: One time I think I lost all light AAA at a location when I added more than 250 guns of one type there. As if it had begun to count from zero again.

- Bomber Command isn't really active enough and uses few night intruders in combination with its bomber streams

- night intruder-only nights are a waste of time. The AI should only launch NIs if it also launches bombing missions.

- Ta 152C has no drop in performance when I add rockets, which is weird imo

- losses of interceptors to AAA is annoying, but realistic. Losses of interceptors to barrage balloons is nonsense (at least in daylight).

- production planning screens should be maximised if I had last time maximised the screen when I left it

- intercept group lists should always be sorted by default (with closest available unit on top)

- I'd like to choose to see only daylight fighters or only night fighters in intercept lists

- extreme AAA concentrations (such as 200-300 heavy AAA) have too little effect

- set patrol screen: adjustment of altitude after selection unit should have effect on selected units imo

- it shouldn't take that much different time to convert production. It's way too expensive to convert a size 8 facility (88 x 10 days * 8/day production = 640 production loss.  size 1: only 10 production loss.)

- I should be able to convert Wilde Sau units (JG 300, JG 301, JG 302) to daylight fighters at will.

- several aircraft thumbnails are terrible (Bf 109 G-5AS, for example). In worst case, maybe developers could simply tell us what size and format they wish and players could offer replacement graphics? Or maybe tell us how to create a mod pack?

- AI is too stupid. I have set up a huge flak concentration at one radar station (Katwijk) and the AI keeps loosing 30-40 aircraft there every 10 days.

- engine requirements for Italian fighters are exaggerated. The G.55 should be able to use regular DB605As.

- the "are diving" message is too uninteresting for message setting "1". I already get the message that they attack beforehand.

- add the Heinkel He 419B-1, finally a definitive nightfighter for the Axis (historical project)!
nightfighter
graphics like He 219, possibly recoloured
2 x DB 603G engines
416 mph max speed
376 mph cruise speed
49,300 service ceiling
1,500 miles range (= at least about 600 miles combat radius)
240 endurance
durability like He219
manoeuvrability similar to He219 (lower wing loading, but much longer span)
4 x 30mm Mk 108 firing forwqard
2 x 20mm MG 151 firing forward
2 x 30mm Mk 108 Schräge Musik
FuG 240
Naxos
Flensburg
appearance mid 1945
(Remark: The speeds could even be increased by 20 mph because the data is for a projected SN-2 radar-equipped version, while the FuG 240 would have been the self-evident choice fo a radar by mid '45 and it was aerodynamically superior).

Weather predictions for 3-4 days in advance. Not too many accurate (a bit random here)... but something you can work with for you to plan in advance your strategies (something very useful for the attacker and defender side, IMO).

I'd like to see:

i. The ability to plan a series of Night Intruder raids at the click of a single button (ditto fighter sweeos)
ii. Night Intruders to be able to bomb LW airfields
iii. Notification when new units come onto the OOB e.g. "214 Sqn forms at RAF Oulton with Fortress RCM" or similar
