The War is Lost at the "Battle of Shortlands" !!!
Japanese forces do so badly it is not funny! Once again my Japanese forces fail in combat.
I dont know what happened but to have a CAP of 2 planes over your carriers does not work (all 4 carriers set to 40% Cap). The tip to have one of your fighter groups on Sweep DOES NOT WORK they did nothing did not fly in attack or Defence (1 carrier on 40% Cap, 50% Sweep and 10% rest). Only 26 fighters on escort, where "did the others go" they did not stay home to do CAP thats for sure (3 carriers on 40% Cap, 50% Escort and 10% Rest).
3 Main CV's sunk outright 1 so damage if it makes it to Truk will be a miracle. If Truk can then keep it afloat will be a miracle. We can say he has sunk all four.
Only good thing about this is that a lot of the carrier air groups landed on Shortlands. This means all carriers big and small in the ship building list before 1944 will be excelerated, anything after start of 1944 will be canceled.
If the war lasts into 43 I will be amazed. If I was him now I would let the Japanese have all the DEI with only token resistence. Move all my forces with the main aim of taking Saipan so i can bomb the main land ASAP. The Japanese player must try and stop this and with the aliied advantage in Carriers. You know where the rest of his carriers are going to have to be.
My aim now is to hold out as long as possiable. I will have to start being a little bit more free with my invasions than I would like. The one thing I cant do is slow down my expansion pace or he will know just how much he hurt me.
