Is there any chance of getting one. The broken bombardment has affected me in two of my games (1 PBM and one single player) and Im sure Im not the the only one feeling the effects of it. Is there any time line for a possible repair?

Guys

Mike Wood is on the Job.... and he is the best.. once we find what has caused this and fix it we will make a patch just to address this issue. Let me say I am sorry we did not catch this one..... but I promise we fix it fast.

From the looks of this, the answer might be yes, which is good news.

As Dave noted, we are working at top speed (once again :-) to get 1.11 out this week, as early as possible. Resolving the retirement bug that crept in is Mike's top priority and we've been shipping him extra caffeine IV bags for that purpose. We'll get this out as quick as we can, allowing for just enough testing to make sure we fixed it properly.

Regards,

- Erik

Maybe I shouldn't open this can of worms (but I will anyway). Some have suggested that the retirement bug was intended to prevent those free bombardments in 1.0. Previously in 1.0, a task force could spend an entire day's travel without being subject to enemy LBA attacks. With 1.1, the task force can get there and attack but is subject to AM and PM attacks before it can retire.

I was wondering if the real fix would be to move the naval movement phase to between the AM and PM air attacks. This way those night missions would get only one attack on them before they got out of range. If my memory serves me, the IJN bombardment groups at Guadalcanal usually had to suffer some long range air attacks as they approached and retired from the area. This would seem to allow some attacks without making them suffer a full days damage.

Good suggestion!

AM Surface Phase
Ships move, and resolve combat if needed.
AM Air Phase
Air searches conducted
Air strikes resolved
PM Surface Phase
Ships move, and resolve combat if needed.
PM Air Phase
Air searches conducted
Air strikes resolved

You are correct in saying that the night attack forces encountered LBA at extreme range both just before the push, and after the withdrawal.
