First turn. Recon reports no enemy activity, and our spotters report no casualties with the 105mm battery that we warmed up on a little ridge behind his line.

Visibility is in the teens, and the map is well wooded in the south. The middle is interspersed with trees, and dominated by a large, rocky, bare hill. The north is pretty open ground, and overlooked by a mammoth hill just inside my lines:cool: . Both rear areas have woods, with open ground here and there.

There is a little villa just my side of that center hill. Both of us own the usual rear hexes, and he already controls the northern hexes that started inside his lines. The southern hexes started inside mine. The middle is up for grabs.

We both agreed to not paradrop on eachother. The Air Corp is waiting for targets... Gonna blast some Kitties:( . Hate to do it, they are so pretty, but WAR IS WAR!! And you crossed the line when you stomped Jess. When you really crushed him. When you made him run for his momma!

Revenge is best served cold, and I got a cooler, baby! :p

Goblin- A Goblin ventures forth:mad:

The German's have just murdered a tour group, out taking pictures! We salvaged some film, and the killers were driving Marders and PzIII's!

Both tour cars were destroyed brutally, with no regard for the non-combatant passengers!

  REVENGE!!

Suck 60mm HE, Kraut!

Two German snipers got popped this turn. My recon guys got one in the center. He no likey the grenade. My infantry got one in the south. He no likey the rifle grenade.

A P38 spotted and strafed a StuG, but no luck. German AA tried for him, but he evaded the fire. Then a Kraut FJ or SS squad popped him with rifle fire on his way home. Gonna have some holes to patch at base...

 DIEDIEDIE:mad:

Goblin- A Goblin is frenzied:mad:

Two Panzerfaust 30 teams got popped this time, one by recon blazing away with tommyguns, and one via a .30 calibre. They seem to be recon troops. A .30 cal also cut down some SpecOps. Bodies dot their trail.

Easy8 has answered my strafing run with one of his own! A Bf110 came in low over the trees. A wall of flak rose to meet him. The plane lined up and tore up a SPAA gun! Then bombed the crew, and some of my infantry!

Evading the AA fire, the Bf110 turned for home, but a wing disintegrated suddenly! 37mm AA fire from another SPAA cut it off! There were no chutes as the aircraft spiraled into the trees...

Goblin- A Goblin weeps for his SPAA:(

Ach! Hermann vill be most unhappy to hear that one BF-110d vill not be returning to base. The Luftwaffe cannot replace losses these days.

Othervise, ve ist in contact mit der Amerikaner infantry. Skirmishing starting to break out.

Herr 8Ball - ut.

P.S. - some confusion on my part - Goblin didn't get the correct save files, so I replayed. Same results except orders to a Tiger got scrambled and he drove past his outriders and "bumped" a recon patrol:eek:

Survived the assault and reversed back to his lines:o :o :o

The American recon squads sight a Tiger, and attempt to take him out, assuming he is alone. A failure costs a man, and the patrol retreats. Along the lines, the steady rumble and clank of heavy armor begins to be heard, growing as the German beasts roll closer.

A P38 Lightning roars by overhead and strafes a column of Tigers in the center, escorted by a Brummbaer. The Lightning banks south, unsuccessful, and reports Panthers following the Tigers, and more Panthers to the south.

Infantry grimly grip their rifles. The onslaught is about to hit. The earth begins to tremble slightly, and the call goes out... 'HERE THEY COME!!'.

Goblin- A Goblin is burning adrenaline:mad:

Where is his armor?

The ill fated bomber attack only sighted halftracks, before it was shot down. 2 of the fork-tailed devil P-38's have been strafing my advancing columns, forcing them to spread out. Mortar fire continues to harrass me.

Fire from a 57mm ATG dug in ato a rocky hillock. forces a PzIII back. A FJ squad moves up to supress it. 2 Infantry squads concealed by small copses open up and force them back. Recon troops mounted on motorcycles roar up and begin laying down suppressing fire. Enemy coordinates are radioed back to the FAO, who directs well aimed mortar fire on their positions.

Panthers and Tigers and Bears, oh my! And now, thanks to my pilots, I can add Elephants to the list! Several strafing runs produce two wounded Tigers, but nothing else besides recon.

A Pz IIIL was hit by a 57mm ATG, and the crew bailed. We tried to make them get back in (for their own safety) by machinegunning them, but they ran!

Uh, this sounds hollow, but if you are sorry for what you done to Jess, I will allow you to surrender now! ;)

At least your pilots are getting it right. Let's see....

"Targeting PzIII L, nah make that a 1/2 track, wait! TIGER!"

"Yeah, that's the ticket, let's punch his ticket with 20mm cannon fire!"

Otherwise, a PzIV popped a 50cal Jeep.

Had a sniper gunned down by a recon patrol.

Laid smoke around the 57mm ATG and sent a Brumbaur over to chase away the Inf squads guarding it.

Ut Oh!!!

Infiltrator spotted in the back field:mad:

Massive artillery rounds rained down on the six men huddling for cover on the steep slope. The earth heaved and shook, on and on, until the men thought it might never stop.

The sudden silence, seemingly louder than the barrage, was a welcome relief from the deafening hell they had been through.

They grinned as fellow troopers rushed up through the still settling smoke and dust. Saved!

A dozen Rangers gunned them down where they stood. The last to fall was the German Colonel. He was able to see the ghostly shadows fade into the smoke before the blackness claimed him.

Its Over!! In a demonstration of honesty that is an example to follow, Easy8 has revealed that the game glitched after an airstrike, revealing all of my units to him.

Needless to say, this info could have been vital to him, but he has told me!

Posting our OOB's anyways, so that any interested will know what we had!

Easy8!! I still owe you for Jess! But I have your back against anyone else!:D

Captain Schmidt was tired of war. Three long years of campaigning had taken their toll. It seemed so long ago that he and his friends had earned their wings, and now all but him, gone.

He circled above the advancing Panzer columns, with his three young. green pilots, when they recieved word that the Amerikaners had been sighted moving inland from the beachhead at Salerno. He followed his young charges, diving through the clouds, the morning sun at his back.

He amied his Ju87 Stuka at the earth and caught his breath as he broke through the clouds .

"Gott in Himmell!", he thought to himself as he saw the burning Panzers behind line after line of advancing Yankee infantry and vehicles.

He called for Col. Vebber on the radio. "This is Maj. Stoltz, Col. Vebber's command was overrun." came the reply.

"There is at least a regiment defending the ridgeline just ahead of you!", the Capt barked.

50 cal tracers arced through the air. Captain Schmidt stared in horror as they traced a neat line from the nose of his fuselage and into his canopy. It was the last thing he would see.

Major Stoltz, who minutes before had assumed command of the kampgruppe, reluctantly issued the order for his Panzers to fall back onto prepared defensive positions.

Revenge would have to come another day.

Kampfgruppe Vebber OOB

17 Snipers
1 Motercycle Company
6 FJ Platoons
2 Special Ops Platoons
2 Pionere Platoons w/ 10 total SdKfz 250/1 HT
6 Panzerfaust 30 Squads
4 SdKfz 7/1 AAA HT
1 Stug 40 ausf G Section
1 Marder II (m) Section
2 Flammpanzer III Section
2 Pz IV H Platoons
1 PzIII L+ Platoon
2 Panther A Platoons
1 Tiger IE Platoon
1 Elefant Platoon
2 Brumbar Sections
2 SiG33 auf 38t Sections
2 Forward Observers
2 Stukas
2 BF110 d
2 150 FH Batteries
4 105 FH Batteries
5 81mm Mortar Squads

After "seeing" Goblin's forces, I'm convinced there is no way I could have pulled this one off. I had a formidable force remaining, but had taken more losses and also suffered several breakdowns.

There was no way I could pretend I didn't see his forces and continue my planned slow, methodical advance. His infantry heavy force was deployed in depth and he would have ground me down.

On the other hand, I couldn't just plot artillery on his positions and force a breakthrough, what's the fun in cheating?

I offered Goblin the victory, I honestly think he would have won had the game continued normally. Of course being the gentleman that he is, he refused.

Too bad it had to end like it did:mad:
looking forward to a rematch.:D  :D
