For those that wait for Diablo 3. Here is something (from team members of Diablo and Diablo 2) to shorten the time:

http://www.torchlightgame.com/

And it is just a few bucks ....

Diabolo?

I'm not waiting for Diablo 3 with bated breath, although I almost certainly will buy it when it comes out.

Titan Quest Gold is a very good Diablo clone as well and it's pretty cheap all over too. I'm gonna wait on Diablo 3 though as I just like the storyline better and Blizzard has never failed me in the fun department.

ahhh, good old DII, my buddy and his brother were going to be beta testers on it, so they asked me to write in and see if I could join, I ended up being one of them, while they shut my buddy and his brother out !

needless to say, they were very mad at me :)

kind of nice to be on the game disk, but man is that a long list :)

For those interested, Torchlight is on sale for $17.99 until 15 November 2009.

The retail boxed version is expected out early next year.

Bit unbalanced in some places (not that it really matters, it's SP only), but a great time-waster. Definitely worth the ~12 Euros I spent on it.

Biggest annoyance so far is that the use of mods seems to increase the game startup time by about a minute... still, I prefer that to having one of those annoying pets... if someone makes a sufficiently grizzled and fierce dog model, I might see myself taking that along as a "Slasher" type of companion, but other than that, the whole concept doesn't appeal to me, even if they're really useful for VH/HC characters.

I have Diablo2 and have never played it past about 1/2 an hour or so. It strikes me as a kiddy hack 'n' slash RPG so I have no interest in Diablo3 at all.

I can't wait to see what tricks Blizzard attempts to pull off to milk their customers. This is the new way of things in the mainstream of the industry, look at the new release of Dragon Age: Origins by Bioware. I've been getting some good laughs lurking that forum (I never buy a new game on release anymore- unless it's a Matrix title ). They have an NPC ingame that apparently tries to sell DLC to you. Shameful.

Penny Arcade had a funny comic about it:

Diablo III??? Is Matrix doing this or are we talking about Blizzard?

Sorry guys I am kind of lost here I think. I like Diablo I... my kids and I play it on Playstaion. I cant MAKE Diablo II run on this machine so it collects dust on my shelf.

Later,
KayBay

Apparently Diablo 3 has been pushed to a 2011 release now. One more reason to look into Torchlight I guess.
