Not sure why this should be so hard, but I keep getting burned on this when it comes to landing more troops on an atoll than it will hold without penalty.

How do you calculate the total number of troops in a unit?

At first, I was only looking at the “Troop Load Cost”, but learned the hard way that Troop Load Cost does not equal total number of troops.

Then I smartened up (or so I thought) – I added the number of infantry plus second line troops, making sure to take into account how disabled squads will give you a misleading total.

But that doesn’t seem to work either.

I’m looking at the Midway base info. screen. It tells me I have 4,865 troops. There are two units on Midway: an Eng. unit and Marine def. bn. Both have zero disabled squads, so the totals for infantry + support troops are accurate. When I add these totals, I come up with: 4,680.

Where are the extra 185 troops coming from??

I even tried adding the total pilots for the 2 squadrons I have on Midway: 39. But that still leaves a difference of 146 troops that I cannot account for.

Does it have something to do with the fact that the LCU’s TOE are not 100/100??

What about crews for the artillery and vehicle devices, that must be where the missing troops are.
BUT how many per device ? - I don't know how to calculate it

Good question….

I had two units on Midway at 100/100. Totaled their troop numbers, and was under 6000. Monitoring the island a week later…I was over 6000 in troop numbers.

Sandman, Look at the unit info screen and it should list the total number of comabt troops and support troops. That should give you the total number when added.
