I drove a recon unit within 5 units of that German city you mentioned earlier, I don't remember the name right now, and the next turn I saw a news announcement that all British units were ordered north within 2 turns and sure enough, two turns later all the British units disappeared from the map.  On time and on budget.  Good show Steve.

All in all the German PO was doing a really good job until he left that magnificant hole in the front lines and the rest is history.  Maybe an objective in another spot?  Want me to run it again and see if the same thing happens?

I think I've got it covered. I'll have to send you an updated file in the future and you can try it then if you like.

Here's the German moves for turn 2:
Everything is on schedule and the paratroops dropped in a good position to gain access to the horseshoe area.

Here's the German moves for turn 4:

I'm destroying Allied units left and right.  There's a hole starting to appear in the middle. Also, I sucessfully destroyed a supply depot ( Robertsville depot ) so I'm good to go for supply for a while.

I've put together a collection of AAR's for the first five turns of this Allied PO playtest which includes pictures much bigger in more detail of the moves.  You can find it here:

Hey Steve:

It may be happening again.  I appear to have blown a hole in the Allied lines and they didn't seem to have enough troops to cover all the holes or something.  I may be able to wrap around the Allied defenders and dispatch a few of them shortly.  This is as of turn 10:

Also, there were Allied attacks on some of my northern units still in Garrison mode and only 1 of them "woke up" ( circled in red below):

There is a U.S. division in reserve in the area. Interesting to see what happens if you push the GD Korp thru there. Let's see what develops.

They shouldn't wake up at all, I wonder why one regiment did. I wouldn't be concerned with the American attacks in the area, I think they are only spoiling attacks designed to distract you.

Here's the next collection of AARs...this one for turns 6 through 10:

I'm destroying enough Allied units that gaps are appearing in their lines.  Some places don't look like they have any Allied defenders at all yet.

The Northern Group got released from garrison status somehow and I haven't disbanded the northern group release unit yet. I have a SAL file if you need it for something. This is turn 11 so far.

You maybe got too close to Aachen, probably Germans within 5 hexes of 54,22.

Yep, that's what it was. I didn't know that's the trigger or I would have planned my thrust differently, but oh well. I'll make do with this situation. It's not all that bad actually.

So um.....I think I may have found a little problemo. In turn 11 41,54 was MY hex and here in turn 12 I find an Allied unit that has spawned there. Do you need a SAL file to diagnose this ?

Do you check the Release Doc while playing ? Um ... I just checked and it doesn't specifically say that Aachen triggers 15.Armee. I'll have to review that doc to see if it was an error of omission, or something.

Would it make sense that the offending para regiment was hidden and moved into that hex ? The recon levels are real low, especially during blizzard turns, so maybe he snuck in there. If not, send me the .sal from that turn and the one previous and I'll noodle it out.

Thanks!

I may have looked at it one time long ago but I haven't perused it's contents in some time now. They seldom change after all. Actually I can't remember what I read from it. Maybe I should give it a good going over again to refresh the RAM memory that got dumped in my head.

Disaster!

With the early release of the Northern Group I find myself suddenly outnumbered, outgunned, and soon to be outflanked. And I'm pretty sure that any rescue forces will arrive too late to have made any difference.

Here's the next collection of AARs, this one for turns 11 through 15, and you can find it here:

We've finally gotten some airplanes to play with.  Elmer is bombing my airbases with everything he has.  He's getting high losses but then so am I.

Here's the mini-movie for turns 11 through 18:
I released the northern and southern groups ( but I don't remember what exact turn ) and now there's a flood-gate that opened and let the Allied units free to pour into the battlefield. It looks ify in several places.

http://www.fileden.com/files/2009/12/14/2688812//AF AARs turns 16 - 20.zip

There's so many Allied units now that I am getting out flanked in several places.  This looks like it might be the high water mark for my advance.

I sent some units to blow the bridges to the west of the front lines but the Allied units got there before I could blow the bridges and as a result the Allieds were successful in outflanking the Germans and it's all downhill from here. I'm thinking of starting over as the Germans and trying to do the same plan except send some panzers to the north to handle the British armour and not get so close to Aachen before I'm ready next time.

Um........you know I'm not sure. I don't know much about how far the Germans got during the real thing. I guess I COULD look it up, it's online for crying out loud.

I turned loose the computer playing both sides and there were some differences between how ELMER did and how I did. He got further than I did ( he crossed the Muse River after all ) but I think I got further in the south. I'm thinking of playing as the Germans again but using the strategy of....like flowing with the path of least resistance.......and see how far I get.
