How do I set up my TF for bombardement without retiring ?

I (Japs) have complete naval and air superiority over Lunga and
want my BBs and CAs to stay at the beach and bombard or destroy ships entering the hex. If I set my TF to bombard and disable retirement they do retire nevertheless each day. I can only set surface combat with patrol to fix them to the hex. But I want bombard/patrol. Whats the problem ?

Larkin,

The BBs are the problem in this case in that they have limited ammo and the commander doesn't want them caught in a surface battle while low or out. If you want a Bombardment TF to stay on station, try using only CAs and DDs who have more ammo available. Set them to Patrol / Do Not Retire and they should bombard for a few days before retiring due to ammo expenditure.
