Sorry guys,

I'm new to UCV so could someone tell me just how one sends the proper files to play a PBEM game?

For reason we can't get beyond game turn two in our game of 4 weeks of hell.

I've been playing E-mail games since 1995 and I've never had this problem before.

Doesn't one just send the save game file or is there more files than one to send?

Thanks!

Hiroo

1. Japanese player starts the game and makes his move. He saves the game to one of the save slots, lets use slot 10 as an example. He then exits UV, and makes a zip file consisting of save010.dat. This file can be found in the UV saves folder. This is the file he sends.

2. Allied player unzips the save file into his UV saves directory, makes his move and then saves the game back in slot 10. He zips this file and sends it back to the Japanese player.

3. Japanese player unzips file and he will see the replay for the first turn. He then makes his turn and saves the game in slot 10. He now makes a zip file with save010.dat and save001.dat. In other words, he now sends the replay along with the save game.

4. Allied player unzips both .dat files, loads the replay (save 001) and watches it, then loads the game in slot 10. After his move he sends only the save010.dat file back.

5. Japanese player will continue to send save001.dat and save 010.dat, and Allied player will send save010.dat only.

Hope this helps :)

No, you can't just save the game. You have to END ORDERS - the game then takes you to the save screen. This is one of the major hangups that I have had in my PBEM games. I am used to saving the game normally when playing against the AI (and I assume my opponents are also) and almost by habit find myself saving the game before zipping it and sending it out. My opponents do the same thing.

When this happens you get the "ENTER PASSWORD FOR PLAYER ?" where ? is the wrong player. As the Allies I get the message "ENTER PASSWORD FOR PLAYER 1" when it should read for player 2.

So don't forget - end the orders phase. That will take you to the save screen.:)

My mistake, Sonny is quite correct, you must end the order phase to move to the save screen.
