Gathering 20 subs for a "wolf pack" action against Allied convoys. Need to try something new and put the pressure on in the sensitive areas. Releasing garrison units from China to send to forward bases; these 100 squad units are perfect guard units. Some questions I'm fuddling over; 1. How long should we stay in Australia? - Ca beginning of 43 is what I have in mind. 2. When we start pulling back from Australia should we then leave altogether or leave behind a rear guard? - I'm leaning towards a rear guard; areas like Cairns, Townsville and Darwin will be the last bases to be abandoned. The building of the defensive perimeter has priority now; Burma, Sumatra, Malaya, Java, DEI, New Guinea, Solomons, Marshalls etc. In 43-44 focus will shift towards the inner Perimeter around Philippines and Marianas.
