1st Burma Div is still  overstrength in Burma Squads and I have several Bns I can cannibalise but have chosen not to do so at present.

Rangoon is probably the objective BUT I am very worried about the supply net and also about whether I can muster the PP's to release 3 of the Divs I need for the ops plan.

Enterprise and Yorktown were able to flee port yesterday just coming out of refit they can both still make 8/8 and have been ordered to flee at max speed.

I am taking a hell of a risk there is no screen available for them but I prefer to get them moving now and run the sub gauntlet than hang around and get sunk in port.

I have 5 SCTF's congregating on Sydney 2 of MSW's and 3 of DD's not sure when they will get there.

Sydney AF is trashed and closed so I am LR CApping from nearbye AF's

OK I got clean away with 2 carriers and PZB got lucky again I had over 200 fighters on CAP over Sydney and it was clouded off so most of his strikes went after my DD's rushing to save the port.

Yorktown is about 80 sys if he hits me again she will go down

All the rest got away irritating its was a 10 day refit he caught me in day 8 for two ships and day 5 for the rest - perfect timing

Enterprise and Yorktown were able to flee port yesterday just coming out of refit they can both still make 8/8 and have been ordered to flee at max speed.

Hornet will just need to take her lumps tomorrw

Since Yorktown got bombarded, I guessing it was Enterprise and Hornet who fled?

Yup I seriously underestimated Johns nerve to take BB's into Sydney harbour...

I ended up losing one Carrier as long as the rest get away future ops are not compronmised.

I need to watch for KB going after my ships to the West

Anyway this is an irritation rather than decisive.

So far I am pretty happy with how things are going PZB is bogged down in Australia having made no real progress, his main exploitation attack never even got ashore which has wasted a lot of time - my main worry is the scale of PH where I lost 7 BB's its made me wary of risking my remaining BB's which has allowed him more freedom to hit me.

Losing a carrier in this cheap way is annoying.

For a scen 2 game I still hold Ceylon, Akyab, New Cal and Fiji.

The only blot on the landscape is Townsville in NE Australia - which actually allows my retricted units to fight so I am not even to bothered by that

Christmas Island, the largest Atoll in the world. In the game it is considered a very large island and an Atoll. He can put unlimited troops there and you have to shock attack when you land. Have a nice day.

You had better check the list in the back of the manual. There are a number of small atolls with a limit of 30,000 troops, a few medium with a 60,000 limit, and one or two large/very large with no limit. It can be a nasty surprise to land a division on an atoll that has a 60,000 limit that has 2 inf div and some CD guns.

That's why my first move as the Allies is to put the 34th Rgt on Xmas Island from San Fran... Along with an Eng Rgt and some CD/AA guns, its a little harder to take. That's my personal "line in the sand."

Still short of artillery devices, experience and tanks for the Eastern Army

all 3 Corps HQ's are no present but only 2 of the Corps are really combat ready (17th Indian, 14th Indian and 1st Burma Div) getting the two Divs out of Burma intact is standing me in good stead in terms of readiness for Bur Corps

IV Corps is also ready with 6th Australian, 7th Australian and 18th British Div

so two of my forces are locked and ready none of these Divs are now less than 50xp after 4 months intensive training but I will need more than that and the rest are very green and very underequipped

In India itself things are tight I need more of everything to get the army up to speed.

The fact is the Indian Army and the Australian Army cannot build itself in 42 and fight a campaign something has to give.

There is only so much equipment to go round.

Thats why its US Divs that are spearheading the retaking of Australia because I need to keep my Australian 'seed capital' out of the fight while I divert everythign I can spare to India for the upcoming Burma offensive.

Even with de facto 6 Divs that I should not have in India its going to be tough.

I probably have 3 times the trained and equipped strength the Indian Army actually had at this point because of forces not squandered in Burma and Malaya and diverting the Aussies but the logistics on the Assam front can AT BEST support a single Corps for now and thats with damned near every engineering unit in India on the front.

That means I am tied to the coastal axis out of Akyab and Akyab will need to be supplied by sea which means starting now I am going to be running lots of small AKL convoys in and out of Akyab I need a large supply surplus there to supply the army when it drives on lower Burma.

Holding ojto Akyab is the one bright thing I managed allied Akyab means a 42 offensive is possible - if you have the strength.....

I dont think I am going to make it with enough PP's to allow the attack to go in at full strength.

3 Indian Divs are still restricted despite my best efforts (4 actually but I will have enough PP's to buy 1 out)

So this is goign to be tight.

I have a US Div en route to Australia I could divert to India now that Australia has stabilised to provide a bit more oomph I can get it there in time (barely) for the attack to kick off

Op plan Privateer is being recut based on what forces I will actually have by the kick off date tied to the weakness of the Assam supply net - 5th Chinese Corps operating out of Myktina and maybe a single Corps out of Imphal is all I will be able to support. its not a lot....

Outside of the monsoon Imphal has a base rating of 600 tonnes of supply per day at present (in monsoon) so about 1200 outside of monsoon or say 30,000 per month to be safe - air and garrison/construction forces etc take about 5,000 per month of that allowance so that leaves me with 25,000 per month for combat ops

An allied 'Div on combat ops uses about 4,000 tonnes of supply per month excluding wastage and loss the further from my supply head I get.

So operating in Imphal itself I could supply say 3 Divs plus supporting HQ, Arty etc and still be building up a small reserve....over time (after the monsoon)

Or 2 Divs with no support during the monsoon...

Every hex I move away from Imphal will increase my wastage the first hex not to bad because of a road but my rule of thumb is 50% per hex thereafter for Jungle hexes so Imphal to Katha has 2 horrible hexes with no road and a major river

so 4000 x 150% x 150% = say 9,000 supply per month per Div so post monsoon with no additional Corps troops or garriosn forces I could operate 3 Divs on the Assam front with no margin for error....ummm

I dont like that.

Therefore I will divert a little more engineering assets to Imphal to try and get the AF up another level as it will add another 150 per day supply to that base and I will allow the 'TOE Downgrade' of 17th Indian Div to happen which lightens the Div reducing its supply usage

So I will have 2 normal Inf Divs (albeit one of them is the lighter than normal 1st Burma Div) and the all animal transport 17th Indian Div operating in Assam still going to be very very tight
