Burma Corps yes

Others not yet its sufficient that they are under a non restricted HQ so the Australian Forces are not changed to an Indian Corps HQ - if I had the PP's to spare i would because I am a neat freak.

I suspect he has abandoned his cripples and got out of dodge at 18 hexes in one day meaniong he is behind the line islands which is not something I am willing to take on at present.

Accordingly I will probably retire on Pearl now to replenish as there is not a lot more to win having missed him today and with Colorado and Long Island slowing me down its unlikely I will catch him

SBD-3 Dauntless sighting report: 3 Japanese ships at 179,118 near Kona , Speed 9 , Moving Northwest
PBY-5 Catalina sighting report: 7 Japanese ships at 189,123 near Hilo , Speed 15 , Moving East

Hmmmmmmm take a look at this.

The first sighting is from Enterprise and is the three ships I sunk today.

But that 2nd sighting is now EAST of Pearl and 7 ships moving at 15 knots maybe this hunt is not over yet.....he may have fled deeper into the Eastern pacific

OK this may help

The Blue Cross is the approx location of Enterprise and Hornet

The Red cross nearest is where todays action took place.

The 2nd red cross is a PBY High Point 5 spotting 7 Japanese ships heading east....

the games is still afoot !!!

I see you get the same interesting results as other players. What kill rate was that? With the combat report completely understating the actual losses, this looks like a 20+:1 (or 2?) for the Tojos A2A. While I´m the wrong person to bring up that point (which happens all the time), as a dev team member, how is the air team lead explaining this to you? Those loops are off guys, especially when I see that the Tojos were 2:1 outnumbered. I´m a JFB but such results are just a pain to see actually. And I´ve got a hundred of those examples in my AAR and people doing AARs with the actual combat reports just show the same all the time. Going with the air team leader, we´re all bad players then.

Sweep and dive...

sorry for spamming your AAR, but if the combat report says 1 lost for the sweeper and 16 lost for the defender and you get 20 of the sweeper shot down in the end then you are 100% having a different game than the rest of us. The game extremely underrates the losses for both sides and sweeps seem not to show damaged ac.

example (that´s all from one day), note that three Oscars were shot down A2A during the replay, one seems to have crashed due to damage afterwards.

26 lost for 8 tojos was the ratio

In the south of PH things are hooting up I gambled he would circle back to Line Islands for fuel and I think he has.

I think he is ESE of Palmyra maybe 800 miles from Christmas Island my carriers are inside him I hope to force an engagement if I can find the main body

Problem not with the sweeps, problem with very hight altitude sweeps. They are definitly unrealistic, if those Oscars sweepted in 15 000 - 20 000 they will be eaten by the CAP. You need to discuss with your opponent this problem. In my pbem game nor I nor my opponents use such unrealistic sweeps and we dont have unrealistic results.

Whenever I get swept by high altitude tojos, I just get murdered. I have not found any solution. High sweep death plus the uber tojo makes for an unreal deadly combo. These planes are the corsairs of AE and are totally whacked. It does not help that so many can be built in lieu of tonys. They totally change the nature of the game-giving the Japanese player fighter air superiority until well into 1943.

If he has AIR HQ at Rangoon, he can in one day transfer Betty or Nell from 70 hex range and attack your invasion force, so you need to bring some carriers.

OK PZB is back from holiday and after the carrier battle I have been trying to find the remnants of the jap fleet but no joy so I am returning to base.

We are about 30 - 40 days from the start of the allied counter offensive which has 3 operations planned to hit him all at the same time.

ps Hiyo is confirmed sunk so that a big CVL and CV confirmed sunk ;)))

Operation 1 is the post monsoon attack on Burma its well telegtaphed so he will be ready for it but I want him to be pulling troops into Burma in 42 so I am willing for this attack to end in stalemate if it make him commit.

Operation 2 is the reconquest of NE Australia this will kick off when the Armour is redeployed from Darwin in about 30 days and will be a large scale ground offensive.

Operation 3 is the reconquest of Christmas and the Line Islands supported by the combined RN/USN fleet that is currently redeploying.

My strategic goal for 42 from 1 is to make him commit to Burma at the expense of Sumatra/Java/Malaya - you can see the way my mind is heading ;P
2. is to get a platform for the NG campaign to follow
3. is to open up my SLOC and try and get KB to commit

I am carefully husbanding forces to get ready for these operations

Re 2. I have over 700 Tanks and 100 Armoured Cars supporting 4 US and 5 Australian Divs plus change....

So this attack is well organised and I can force a single retreat my armour will crucify the Japanese I very much doubt PZB can stop me I only hope he doesnt take a strategic step back before I am ready to attack the last few pieces of the puzzle are moving now

For the Burma offensive I am going for multiple objectives initially at least

66th Chinese Army at Paoshan will drive on Lashio
5th Chinese Army will drive on Katha from Myktina
Burma Corps will drive from Imphal to Schwebo where it will try to link up with the Chinese.
IV Corps will cross the mountains driving for Magwe with all the Chindits under command
XV Corps will take the coastal road driving straight for Prome with most of my Indian theatre Armour.

XXXIII Corps in reserve will await PP's to free up more units to reinforce success

I may be dispersing my efforts a little to much but it should confuse the hell out of PZB !!!

And so it begins.....

Burma Corps is ordered out of its rain sodden bunks at Imphal and ordered to cross the Chindwin in force under command 17th Indian Div (Animal Pack) 39th Indian Div and one other Div.

The Corps is ordered to link up at Katha with the Chinese 5th Army.

This is the first move in the Northern Offensive.

In the South the redeployment from Western Australia is nearly complete both of my strike Corps and the Militia Corps are almost ready to attack the Japanese lines.

I estimate both attacks will be under way within a week

4 USN CV's and 2 USN CVE's are either at Pearl or approaching.
