I kind of agree now that I have a base with 3 Divisions ashore and digging in and a Seabee REGIMENT and two EAB Bns he aint goign to close the AF for long nor will he shift me.

He would need massive amounts of force to retake that base and my follow up slow convoys are closing fast.

Over 20 Sqns of fighters and bombers are about to unload at Sydney which added to the 500+ I already have in north Australia will give me a lot of redundancy to fly sqns in and keep up the fight.

My carriers should be able to replenish back to full strength ready to escort the 2nd wave in.

3 japanese cruisers are either sunk or badly damaged and all of this for the cost of HMS Resolution and HMS Hawkins

So far the cost has not been to bad.

I still have 10 Battleships and 50 Cruisers in theatre plus 12 CVE's and 10 CV's not to mention the CVL's

My fleet is intact and ill refuel rearm after a strike on Koepang ready to seek battle with KB

Lvl 9 is not a huge issue as I wouldnt want to concentrate more than 200 - 300 aircraft in any one base while japanese BB's still exist.

Bigger issue is my lack of AA and Base Forces at that base the follow on convoy has plenty of both but is taking its own sweet time to get in theatre

p.s PZB hasnt even seen half my fleet yet.

Both the other amohib TF's have a close escort group of 2 BB's plus heavy screen as i was expecting heavy surface raids

Ching Lees TF with Pennsylvania, Warspite, Valiant plus 3 Cruiser and Destroyers is still in good shape as well.

So I am not too worried for now but will feel a lot better when I have KB and the terrible twosome pinpointed

What is the state of the base right now when it comes to damage and airfield?

It was open fully and I was able to fly in 130 top line fighters.

with about 20,000 supply.

Second wave is a little but further back than I would like.

But I have 300 more top line fighters in Australia waiting to fly in and uncounted variants of P40.

If this turns into an attrition battle - I win.

I would feel a little better with 2 - 3 AA Regts on the base but I will make do with what I have.

De facto I don't need to go for any other base in the area for my next move.

I can stand back and take Roti and Koepang next while shielded by Warangai.

Think about Warangai will attrit Jap LBA and keep KB back fromt he north especially if I get PT Boats and subs in there.

LBA from the soon to be captured Broome and Derby as well as Port Hedland can support an amphib assault on Koepang (for which a full reinforced Corps is 100% pepped in the 2nd wave)

Basically although Endeh was the 2nd waves target I am pretty certain I am going to pass on it - I dont need to take another big risk int he confined waters of the Flores.

I have my base between fighters and mediums based there guarded by a full 1200 AV shortly to be dug in behind lvl 3 forts (minimum) PZB will have to work damned hard to winkle me out of there.

This fight is far from over but in many ways the single most dangerous moment is past.

Lets not get to cocky PZB is a tough capable player not averse to big risks - he wont make the same mistake he made last game of committing his fleet for poor risk/return

One base does not a war win

Those look good. I actually meant the pilots for the ground based fighters that you said you have already deployed to the forward base.

Um normally 70/70

Remarkably quiet this turn I managed to get a PT boat flotilla activated at Waingapoe and ordered a Sqn to Lombilla

Apart from that I made a mess of remain on station and Colorado took a few hits she will make it (subs and KB allowing but its still a PITA

PZB is not being drawn out yet and no sign of KB carriers are slowly pulling back for now

Still no turn so not a lot to report.

Been thinking it through a little more.

I have a LOT of seabees and engineers en route to the region I am going to spread out capture a load of easy lvl 0 bases and build them up.

So Roti and other islands that I dont need full press invasions for I capture dump some supply and a few seabees on and leave to build up for a few weeks.

PZB simply cannot supress that many bases so if I keep the pressure on it should work.

I am also planning further operations in Burma and on the CENTPAC front I dont want to get so focussed in this one region (despite my committment to keeping my main effort here - that I miss opportunities elsewhere.

Andaman Islands or Ramree again may be an option or maybe west coast sumatra in a lightning raid.

Midway covered by a few CVE's left in the pacific (2 have just arrived) would also be possible.

Must keep him honest

I also want to restart the submarine offensive now that I have my toehold
Andy
Not sure yet

Might also go to Rangoon again with 10th Air Force to try and tie some Japanese aircraft to Burma even if I lose 50 or 60 in that raid it will nail Japanese aircraft to the Burma theatre

Quiet turn I lose 60 to Japanese 120 mine are spread about

Some of the co ordinated Jap strikes were worrying but I am pulling back anyway so not to worried

Warangai is lvl 1 forts and 70% to lvl 2 climbing fast

Derby would have fallen but I left the Tanks int he wrong mode - should fall tomorrow

Darwin is out of supplies now

just enough for search planes so pulling the rest back until more convoys can arrive.

I remain optimistic and have ordered a full wing of B25's into Warangai to hit Endeh tomorrow if I sit on defensive at Warangai I lose

I must attack

I expect another day of sweeps with no bombers so I may get lucky tomorrow after all PZB lost 120+ today

My plan remains the same no change is planned for now

Derby haveing been captured is a huge issue in the unfolding battle I can more easily resupply Port Hedland and Derby and they are both big enough to hold my airpower.

Bomber Sqns capable of taking 160ish aircraft mediums or heavies unloaded at Perth this turn so another wave of heavies when repaired will be redy for the fight ahead

What do you think is the reason behind the high losses you suffer to the Tojo sweeps, and how do you plan to counter them?

Well, you could sweep with your own fighters, which get them off the ground & away from his sweeps. You just have to be careful about exposing the base to bombing. You need to continue to think offensively here - don't let him get settled in & start pounding you.

In for a penny, in for a pound, as they say.

Does it matter? As long as he doesn't run out of airframes and is fighting over his own bases, Andy's probably still at least breaking even on pilot losses.

Course none of us know the relative depth of the player's aircraft pools, but that's why its fun to watch :).

my Corsair and P-47 squadrons shred everything the Japanese send to my bases, no matter if Frank, George, Jack, Tojo or Zeke and no matter at which alt the enemy is sweeping. The only thing I can think of is lack of radar which seems to be true when there are pre warning times of only 3 min for example. With enough radar the enemy can send what he wants in my game, everything is shot to pieces.

Totally forgot about radar - yes, that would definitely change the odds here.

Yes that was a flaw in my planning the base force thatI sent has no radar.

Yesterday I didnt put a CAP up but chose to 100% swep for that reason

Didnt forget per se this follow on wave was supposed to be a lot closer to the lead wave but was held up by short range MSW's that were constantly refueling.
