Raid is overhead once again the radar fails completely... wonder if British radar works at all... we by far fail to get the number of fighters into the air we would expect to when having a dozen radar sets at the base and the enemy once again gets the height advantage, taking our fighters apart at will... and again, the only thing that saves us (more or less) is the light armament of the Oscars, mostly only being able to damage our fighters... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Morning Air attack on Toungoo , at 57,50 Weather in hex: Thunderstorms Raid spotted at 42 NM, estimated altitude 39,740 feet. Group patrol altitude is 37730 , scrambling fighters between 10000 and 37730. Time for all group planes to reach interception is 40 minutes as usual... the follow on strike unfortunetely meets more leaking Cap (oh how great would it have been to see my sweeps going in) and the Tonies chew up our Beafighters... I still got problem to understand all these messages in the cr... how does it match to spot the raid just 7min off the target, but the Tonies got 40min time to reach interception??? What´s the logic behind this? Group patrol altitude is 37730 , scrambling fighters between 24500 and 26500. Time for all group planes to reach interception is 142 minutes more is coming in, this time also some Beaufighters that obviously got lost... and now please tell me how it works to detect this raid 4min before they drop their bombs but the Tonies have 142 min time to reach interception... is this a joke or what? I guess the bombers don´t even need that long from their base to the target! losing 18 fighters for 11 enemies just won´t work in the long run... this doesn´t even work in the short run considering the enemy outproduces us at least 2:1... and in AE I seriously doubt that the enemy will ever run out of perfectly skilled pilots either... while in WITP you "only" had to fight airframes at some point, now you seem to have to fight airframes AND pilots... I´m not that happy with our Burma air offensive... considering that we´ve got 400 fighters (probably at least twice as many as the enemy) and 160 bombers (heavy and medium, able to carry the bombload of 350-400 IJAAF bombers) the results have been pathetic so far and we´re even on the losing end... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Afternoon Air attack on Darwin , at 76,124 Weather in hex: Thunderstorms Raid spotted at 20 NM, estimated altitude 11,000 feet.
