Well...um...except the Japs don't have any mobile CDs early in the game that I know of. I'm betting it was an artillery or AA battalion.

I think you are right. Here is what the Jap commander had to say. He sounds almost english. Probably went to Eaton.

He was just trying to be nice and make sure we didn't ask for a "do over" of the drubbing we took at Sydney.

In fact, she might acutally BE Jane Russel with fake blonde hair. The carpet is not visibile, of course. Oh, well doesn't really matter. No sense stirring up gossip. The General is greeted by Mr. Hughes.>

HH: General, welcome to Hughes Aircraft.

Gen. William J. Donovan: Thank you sir, please call me Bill.

HH: Thank you Bill, you can call me Mr. Hughes.

Gen. William J. Donovan: Thank you for seeing me Mr. Hughes. I wanted to talk about Project Azorian.

HH: Project Azorian?

Gen. William J. Donovan: Yes, it seems the Japs lost some experimental guns in a naval battle off Merak, Java and we imagine they would like to get their hands on them before we do. Trouble for them is their entire force was wiped out and, quite likely, they have limited intel on the location.

HH: Hmmm..where do I come in, General?

Gen. William J. Donovan: Right, we want the work to APPEAR to have been done by a neutral nation under civilian contract. Also, we don't want that little pissant Truman poking his nose into it.

HH: I'm intrigued. Any competition?

Gen. William J. Donovan: <looks at notes> It appears the Japs have contracted, through intermediaries, with an outfit called M&M Enterprises.....

*The Atlas rocket has not been invented yet as Werner is still working for the Nazis. The inspiration for the design of the Atlas nose cone has not been established with certaintly.

I'd say Howard is way our of his league. Incidentally, are you suggesting that Von Braun and Ms. Russel were closely enough acquainted for him to be....inspired?

The Emperor's boys have been given a black eye at Merak and Kendari but things are going swimmingly for them to the East.

..Port Moresby fell on the 13th of January

..The KB is moving leisurely to the East across the Coral Sea. Perhaps they intend to catch more shipping flat-footed. Noumea and Suva are being stripped of shipping. Noumea now has a Bn of Kiwi infantry and 2 US Arty Bn's plus a base force but no planes except PBY's. Suva has 23 P-39's. That should be enough to strike terror into the hearts of the Japs. Efate has one Bn of field artillery. A US Army Regt and a Marine Regt are headed toward Noumea but will have to wait until th eKB passes.

..There are a lot of dented ships at Sydney and the dry docks are down.

Looks like Rangoon will tomorrow. Fortunately the NAAFI canman got all the decent tinnies and good nutty out. All we left for the japs was the crappy Inde Coope IPA and some sherbert dips. Ha ha!

Nutty?

I was thinking that a sherbert dip sounded like a very refreshing summer treat to share with the kids. Make mine pistachio! I'd like a tinnie of it with some good nutty bits on top, please.

Here’s some Navy terminology for you. They seem to have their own language – it’s called Jack Speak,

Matelot - Royal Navy person
Scran - Food (breakfast/lunch and dinner)
Doby - Wash/shower
Cheesy hammy eggy - A strange but delightful meal!
Runs ashore – Going out
Heads - Toilets/bathrooms
Oppo’s - Mates
Gaddafi - NAAFI Canteen
Nutty - Chocolate/sweets
Goffa - Fizzy drinks/water
Dit - Story/information.

Another variant of "tinny"/"tinnie" is as a slang term for a can of beer, commonly used in Australia, New Zealand and some parts of the UK
