Have you tried back tracking from where the ambergris was found. Taking into account the currents, tides, wind blah blah, they could find the whales. Where the whales are, there should be Japanese harpooners. See if you can find a Captain Ahab, he will be particularly motivated in the search.

Alfred

I don't think that will work.

It was discovered to be a small weapon operated by a trained macaque, the Ambergis Okha.

Don't be misled by the, ahem, fragrance.

Quick, get on the phone to M&M Enterprises, Cosmetics Division. I'm certain that man in the fine linen slacks will make you are fine offer for the ambergris. Just make certain you don't conduct the transaction at wholesale prices. To paraphrase a certain fine upstanding gentleman, there is a war on, you know, and the colour of scarcity is green.

Even Jap merchantmen are dangerous. I cant figure out where their tanker traffic is.

Two clues for you:

1) Waypoints
2) Shallow water

If you can figure it out in the next hour, you win an expense-paid trip to Fiji courtesy of M&M Enterprises.*

*It is possible that your return flight may not exist

************July 11, 1942************

Fiji: Aoba, Furutaka, Yubari and 6 DD's engage 2 PT boats at Nadi. I'm not sure what the purpose was. Perhaps it was a bombardment group diverted from its true purpose. They are retiring at high speed to the West.

Carrier Zeroes raided over Suva. Losses were roughly 16 P-29's to 12 Zeroes. As these are carrier Zeroes with hot shot pilots that is not bad.

600 JJ KIA's at Suva today. I am sending another Regt to Nadi to get ready for an attack there. Moderate efficacy of B-26 raids on Nadi.

A Vincet pilot of No. 4 Sqdrn claimed a hit on a Jap sub off Nadi. The remaining PT boat from the Nadi engagement has been ordered to investigate another oil slick off Nadi. A tremendous swarm of seagulls in the area was mistaken for Jap planes.

Alas, after the picture was taken, an attempt to dry off the device with an electric fan ended tragically.

USS Cuttlefish was patroling the Chinese coast ...and got killed. The air cover up there is murder. Nagasaki is certainly a possibility. There was another sub on station there that got bombed. I need to send an AS to Midway and get serious about oil interdiction. I will also stick one West of Okinawa and one in the Tsushima Strait. We have got a few tankers but this crowd is very careful about using waypoints to change up their routes.

Up to now the US subs have been chiefly on the defensive, but they did torpedo Akagi 3 times in one night (1 dud) and apparently sunk Soryu.

Detection level at Noumea is up to 9/10. Those dedicated photorecon aircraft really make a difference.

The "light industry" is "11" at Noumea. I wonder what they are making.

The Jap Naval Guard remnant on the North Shore of Fiji has 9 guns but no Japs in diapers. When attacked by the Stuarts there they inflict too much damage. Apparently they are robotic guns. I guess I will have to bring up some infantry to kill them. One has to put up with these minor annoyances for an overall great game.

A young man in fine linen slacks operates a lamp from a motor launch, three dashes and then a dot. A response comes back immediately. The young man trains the the lamp in the direction of the response. It is a Japanese submarine. A short man with a round face is immediately recognizable.

A young man in fine linen slacks: ITOSAN! YOU SON OF A BITCH!

Cpt. Ito: Herro Miro. I have product. Miro have gord?

A young man in fine linen slacks: Itosan, at long last, do you not trust me?

Cpt. Ito: Ito sorry, Miro. Japanese men at Noumea no have battle, so very busy.

A young man in fine linen slacks: Don't sweat it, man. <he trains the light on the deck. There are several crates which say in plain Engrish, "Mk 14 torpedo arming mechanism"...............

OK...I'm back. Docs said I should be more careful laying pipe.

Anything happen while I was gone?

Say, I don't suppose anyone said anything about that watch I bought Stalker Girl for Christmas? She is asking a lot of questions.

One always needs to be careful where they lay pipe.
We do not need the pipe to become rusty, or crusty,
Pipe cleaning can be costly.

I'm a bit worried about you guys- does laying pipe mean something of a sexual nature over your way?
Because here it means ........how can I put this delicately...... extruding a prodigous quantity of solid waste from your nether regions, preferably in on contiguous section.

Laying pipe means something very different from where I come from.

As in " I went out on a date with Mary Jane and laid some pipe " .

Yes.*

* I wouldn't worry, though. I don't think getting sent to The Cornfield is actually physically painful, just an unknowing nothingness in perpetuity.

Kind of like having to listen to a certain speech from a certain national political figure? [shudders]

I will be more careful then. I do not like the idea of unknowing nothingness.

One time, before they threw me out for counting cards, I was invted to this big Super Bowl party at the Mirage in LV. Everything is free. Free call drinks, free buffet with crab legs and prime rib, half naked women all over the place, big screens. The game was lousy but otherwise it was a blast. Betting on every rdiciulous thing you could imagine, first punt, first first down yada, yada.

So at half time they have a free raffle and are giving away really cool sports stuff, historic baseball cards, lots of signed stuff. Finally they pull out a Packers helmet, worn by a famous Packer in a big game. They have this 20 something 10/10 blonde with silicone enhancement announcing the prizes...."Here is a Green Bay Packer helmet worn in.. (I think it was a Pro-Bowl but I'm not sure..she didn't say that I just can't remember the game)...and personally autographed by................<15-20 second pause>............BRETT FAVOR*

* It just occured to me the Favre incident might have been at a New Years Eve party but I did go to a really cool Super Bowl party there...I think the Chargers were playing. I am blanking on where the Favre thing was given out but I am sure about the blonde part and there were definitely half naked women at the Super Bowl thing.
