American "blood chit" on silk (for China). Authentic examples of these are highly valued by collectors.

I plead traumatic amnesia.

Rained hard last night and the sky is blue in the West this morning. That is the bad news.

The even worse news is I have a golf tournament today and I haven't played in 365 days and now the tournament is on. <makes sign of the cross>

Yeah. Most of it was burned off the pilot protagonist, IIRC. Methinks the good (or at least OK) Cap'n meant something slightly more salacious, less singed.

Nonsense. Nothing beats the "Devil / Angel" dialogue scene from Tom Hanks' Bachelor Party of yore for gratuitous boobage.

You need the late 70's/early 80's comedies including Animal House, Airplane, Caddyshack and Blues Brothers to have a well rounded appreciation of film imo. Can't be filling your brain w/ Kurosawa and Woody Allen all the time. Btw, I've always hated Woody Allen movies.

I saw that someone is going to make a movie from Atlas Shrugged. Naturally, this reminded me of a story of 3/4 naked women.

A couple of years back my brother and I went to a Laker's game at Staples Center. Great fun, fantastic seats, $8 fancy hot dogs a couple of brewskis. I was happy with that but he wants to go to Spearmint Rhino, a "Gentlemen's Club". I finally relented..maybe have a cigar in a big leather chair..that kind of thing. Because it was his gig, he paid the admission fee. For some reason, he was careful not to use his credit card.

So anyway, we get in and, let me tell you, they had some seriously lax admission criteria because there were a lot of women there and they weren't wearing much clothing either.

Bro:
Pick one out

Me: For what?

Bro: A lap dance you retard.

Me:
When?

Bro: I'll tell you.

We get a beer and after a bit, the DJ-type guy announces "3 SONGS FOR ONE!"

Bro: NOW! HERE YOU TAKE THE ASIAN ONE!

The place exploded in activity. It was like a ground ball down the third base line with runners on first and second. Triple play!

We get over to the booth.

Hot Asian Girl: You don't come here much, do you?

Me: I would think that's a good thing.

Hot Asian Girl: nah, we like our regulars. Where you from?

Me: Orange County.

Hot Asian Girl: Ahh. Panties or no panties?

Me: Huh?

Hot Asian Girl: $20 more for no panties.

Me: Ah, do you mean mine or yours?

Hot Asian Girl: Mine silly. <polite laugh>

Me: < I do some quick mental math..let's see $20 plus maybe $12 for dry cleaning..umm that's $32> I'll pass.

Hot Asian Girl: OK. <then the music starts and I was seriously impressed. I am not kidding. I've had electric toothbrushes that didn't osclate that fast. The songs seemed really short but even so, by the third my ears are starting to ring..or maybe that was her motor buzzing..anyway, the third song ends and she stands up and I hear>

Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Do you read Ayn Rand?

Me: Ayn Rand? <I become aware the buzzing has stopped abruptly. Imagine that, she is a small governemnt advocate.

I think we may finally agree on something, Mandrake. I think I've been to a "gentleman's club" maybe 4 times in my life. My friends took me out to one for my 18th b-day
and bought me a lapdance (from a very cute girl, I might add). My reaction after she was done was "what? that's it?".

Dear Chickenboy;

Thank you for your kind offer. Fortunately, the doctors don't think Captain Mandrake's epic pipe-laying ability will be affected. It seems the PVC glue didn't stick to the titanium plate he has in his skull.

I was somewhat unhappy to learn that my Christams gift didn't have the ceramic band because the bastard told me it did.

Mrs. Mandrake

PS...he asks that "Johnny Jap" (whoever that is) please send the turn

OK, I'm catching WAY up on this AAR (since Christmas!) and really trying hard not to resurrect ancient posts, but Mrs. Mandrake's reference to Cap's "epic pipe laying ability" made me lose it!

Wrong daughter And that is me before the guy at the DMV asked if I wanted to change anything on my driver's license.

Trini Lopez is too old in that picture but he really does look like "el Azteca" (minus the gluteal cleft on the chin and the sideburns). He really isn't a bad kid if you disregard his stolen social security number and the fact that he likes to drink and fight AND he is short.

As for Mr. Foote, I envisioned his voice as a disembodied narrator coming from everywhere at once as you stand in the Devil's Den looking up at the Little Round Top. Tell me THAT wouldn't be cool. Even so, you lot would be whining because there is no internet access.

Actual, real, story here : I was lucky enough to meet Mr. Foote. A writer friend of mine had become an acquaintance of Mr. Foote and when I found out I begged, pleaded and cajoled until I got to tag along one day on a brief get together of theirs. Very cool day for me

I got to meet him in passing on the street one evening, as we were walking from our car to the Mid-South Fair. He was out for a walk in an old white tee shirt and cutoffs. I easily recognized him and said, "Hello Mr. Foote" as we approached each other. He replied, "Hello there." My walking companion said I had a goofy grin on my face the rest of the day.

Easy now...last time we charted those waters the spent fuel rods started to get out of control and we had to spray the hole lot of them with cold seawater.

By ray way, the golf tournament wasn't cancelled so I put on my suspenders and went out to do battle. At the first hole with a gallery of about 3 dozen watching, I walked out the the tee box, teed up the ball, made the sign of the cross, took one half speed warm up and smacked the ball ten feet from the pin 185 yds away. And then I pretended like it happens all the time. The fact that I was using a 7 wood was a little unmanly but I just cant hit the long irons well and I dont think most noticed.

Yesterday, I was so frickin' sore. Next time I am going to practice a few times first. On one hole, it hailed so we had to use the back of the sand rake to clear a path for the putt.

JJ is building a defensive perimeter. This I take as unequivocal evidence of their high water mark in the South Pac. I should be able to shoehorn in a landing at Rossel before the US carriers need to go West for Operation SOW
