In fact, $350/hr was the rate just for that phone call you received from her. That's the ticket!

Are we talking about the same hourly rate here, my Argletonian colleague? You wouldn't be suggesting some sort of double entendre about a stated price from some woman over the phone for services rendered now, would you?

Well, now that you mention it... Cap could send her the bill for $350/hr two-hour minimum for that initial phone call, along with a letter informing her of the $600/hr "nominal" rate. Then, when she calls to clarify, he could tell her that the nominal rate carries a "hot tub reduction" to $450/hr if they conduct business in said close quarters.

Yup. Yup. Sell some online site licenses via video feed and he stands to make a small fortune. Cap'n-just be certain that you bill in 15 minute increments only. Don't forget your consulting / paternity insurance premiums.

Good to see that this online discussion is getting back on track! Milo would be proud of the direction this thread is taking: The business of America is business!

Gents;

Simply because a voice on the telephone sounds female does not mean that individual is attractive...or even female.

Take the women of Tanna, for example. A remarkable number of them sound like Lauren Bacall and look like Reggie Smith*

***********Sept. 13, 1942************

South Pacific: The LYB's have given up Tanna airfield. I think it was a combination of the bomber raids and the number LYB's AWOL on Tanna* The new target for the B-17's on Fiji is now the level 3 airfield on Efate. Cowed into submission, JJ does not even resist at Efate. To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women** is a real hoot.

390th BS at Suva continues to kick LYB ass on Fiji. A new regiment of Green Army men will arrive in a day or two to finally kill those EXTREMELY annoying LYB's at Nadi. If the EALYB's stand up to this attack then we are thinking of letting a contract to some guy named Oppenheimer on contract to M&M Fission Devices Division.

Oz: B-24's from Alice hit Derby today, causing about 25% runway damage.

Burma: B-25's and Wellys hit Magwe oil fields today after JJ apparently gave up trying to protect the place (or it was somebody's birthday party or soemthing). The LYB's in the Jungle are revealed to be 4th Guards Div. If they are anything like the Imperial Guards then.......

* It is also rumored the women aren't very attractive

** It is rumored the women on Efate are hardly any better.

Reggie Smith or his glove? It's a toss up for attractiveness...

At $350, $450, and $600 per hour, "attractiveness" in a business deal becomes identical with the concept of "attractiveness" at 2 AM in a bar...

As one of my med school friends put it so well in 1976: "First, I look for her purse. She may have a rash, but she's also got cash!"

***********Sept. 15, 1942***********

Good News: Attack on Broome prompts ALB's to move fighters to Broome and Port Headland.

Bad News: The fighters came from somewhere else.

Port Headland...86 fighters...no bombers

Broome....8 fighters

Wyndham.....131 fighters...no bombers

Derby........50 fighters...no bombers

275 fighters in Northern Oz. Uggh. It is down to brute force. I will send 2 more squadrons B-17's from Fiji. P-38 strength in Oz now 57 airframes.

Well, at this point, a war of attrition always favors the Allies. It worked in the air war over Guadalcanal during the real one in late '42...

Your opponents have to be overextended. Brute force is ugly, but winning ugly is a lot better than losing...

That's a lot of fighters. Not sure our linen-slacked green jobs have the muscle to brute force that right now. Might be time to send Milo in with a cargo of sake and broken condoms.

Well...at least we are aware of our ignorance. Surely there is some satisfaction in that?

How are the new drop tanks for the Wapiti coming?

Hey, that is a great idea fitting drop tanks to the Wapiti. When the Avgas has been used up they can drop them onto the LYBs. Presto a great increase in the Wapiti's firepower. Actually for a quasi napalm effect, why not drop them whilst full and burning, perhaps courtesy of LYB 7.7 mm calibre bullets. Just make certain a representative from M&M Enterprises, Recyling Division is present to recover the drop tanks for reuse.

If you label the drop tanks "bomb" you'll be causing all sorts of extra work for the unexploded ordnance teams. Until they catch on. Then just paint them a different color. Change the label to "torpedo". And so on.

It just gets even better.

With that sized drop tank, not only does the fearsome Wapiti greatly increase its ordnance payload, it can also double up as a float plane. Imagine the surprise on the faces of the LYBs when out of a coastal dot base, the sky is darkened by wave after wave of Wapiti approaching them, delivering destruction in their wake.

Ah, that is because you haven't paid due attention to the benefit of flying a biplane (better still a triplane). Those wings don't neccesarily sit perfectly on top of each other, so the increased wing surface area blocks out the sun's rays from reaching the grunts down below.

Yes, I can see it perfectly now. There in the distance, with dawn breaking and the rising sun behind them, wave after wave of Wapiti looming larger as they approach. Closer they arrive and above the sound of their engines, more audible becomes the sound of the March of the Valkyres which is being played out through the speakers specially modifed by M&M Entreprises, Entertainment Division.

You have to think about combined arms operations. Overload the enemy's sensory organs. As Nemo would say, don't be conservative in devising means to disrupt the enemy's OODA cycle.

I've still got 23 of the mean war machines in my pools. I don't think they are painted green. Surely if there was a shortage of them, they would be painted green, which as we all know, Milo is consistently pointing out is the colour of scarcity.

I'm certain Milo would make me a good offer for my 23 Wapiti which he could add to purchases from other AE players and then bundle up the lot at a keen price to Cap Mandrake.

In any case, my 23 flying line abreast surely must cover at least 3 degrees of the horizon. That has to be more than a little cumulus cloud. And if not, I'm certain M&M Enterprises, 3D division, would be able to come up with some computer generated graphics to make up any shortfall. Milo is well ahead of the game, CGG is bound to be a cinch for him in 1942.

Prior readers may recall that M&M Enterprises constructed artifical icebergs in the Medium Sundas from coconut husks and copra. Perhaps the technology could be adapted for clouds in some fashion. The problem is that this was WWII(b) (I think) and therefore Mr. Minderbinder will not remember. However, given the proper "alignment of incentives", I feel confident the solution will rise to the surface naturally.

I now have a question for the accumulated wisdom of the forum. There are doubtless some experts on this matter.

Anyway, here it is. So I go to the lab yesterday to add a lab test on a patient after the lab is closed. There is only one tech left, a young chap whom I have never seen before. We discuss the lab test add and he looks at the order and says, "Oh, Dr. Mandrake, do you work out?"

HUH? My Gaydar threat warning indicator starts chirping like crazy. I manage to answer lamely, "Oh..no..not really..I just walk the dogs and work in the yard". Anticipating the next question will be about gladiator movies, I quickly fire up the ECM transmitter and head back to the office..."Thanks, let me know if there is a problem".

Right, so here is the question. Was I misperceiving that exchange?

On another note, we, the Allied High Command, are going to need a serious diversion for Operation Stoat/Weasel/Aardvark.

Any ideas?
